Holiday Travels
This will be my final post of the old year. So, let me wish each of you a good year for 2023. Unless one can travel early before Christmas, my thinking is that it might be best for most to stay at home for the holidays. It seems that not even the CEO of Southwest Airlines can figure out why some 2500 flights were canceled during the Christmas rush. And if they are going to reimburse those travelers inconvenienced by flight cancelations, no one seems to know where that money will come from.
Then it seems everyone wants to take a cruise for Christmas and since most cruise ships leave on Sunday, many people reported waiting in long lines and didn't have dinner until after 11:00PM on most ships. Christmas just happened to be on a Sunday this year when most traveling is lighter on that day of the week. But travelers from all aspects of traveling had a hard time getting to places they wanted to go by Christmas. But Southwest said they won't catch up until yesterday or today.
It seems Christmas on Sundays plus the major snowstorm hitting the Midwest and the Buffalo area really overwhelmed our infrastructure for travel. Maybe the lesson learned by many this year is to simply stay home for holidays. Or it might be best to travel early and go back after New Years. It's just a thought. There seems to be too many travelers that simply overwhelm our resources when everyone wants to get someplace else all in one day. The airlines can't deal with it and it seems the cruise industry can't either. It's just a thought.
Well, tomorrow is New Year's Eve and we have nothing planned. There are a lot of football games on tomorrow and I am not sure how interested I am in any of the games. It's going to be 83 here today and sunny. But this is not a vacation. We plan on making Cape Coral our home no matter if we live here or move into an apartment. We haven't decided yet, but with Ben being gone a lot, it might be best if we stay here, but we shall see.
I am smoking my Boswell pipe today with Sunset Rum by Sutliff. It was nice having Jordan here. But today it is quiet as will be our New Year's Eve. So, I'll write again after the first of the New Year. Here is hoping your New Year is a good one. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
