Is Life Just Practice?

In 2007 a man who got tickets for practice rounds at the Masters at the Augusta Golf Course, showed up with his own clubs and proceeded to golf his own practice round of golf.  Obviously, he didn't get too far in his golfing because security showed up and explained to him that the practice round wasn't for him as he teed up on the first hole.  As one would expect, security at the Masters is incredibly tight and the man didn't even get to hit his first ball.

As to whether this man knew what it meant to watch the pros practice, we may never know.  But an invitation to practice rounds certainly could mean to at least a few that one is invited to practice with the pros.  But even showing up at the Masters with one's own clubs had to raise a red flag in someone.  Having a ticket to a practice round does not mean you get to practice your golf at Augusta.

Unless one is invited as a pro at the Masters by winning a major that year, it might be best to not even step onto the course.  Someone had a lot of explaining to do and probably won't be back.

I read a story this morning thinking of all the ways misunderstandings take place.  There was a story about a two-story houseboat that was blown onto a man's dock by hurricane Ian.  The houseboat belonged to his neighbor who said he didn't have the money to have it removed.  The man who owns the dock has his own boat he has not used in 90 days and said he will need to have his dock repaired.  They both went to the authorities to figure out how to remove the boat, but they said they couldn't help. Then the owner of the dock searched for a company that could move the monstrosity and found none that had the equipment to move it.  So, the houseboat sits on a dock it destroyed with no way of getting it moved.

I have advice for people who face all sorts of dilemmas in life.  One needs to smoke a pipe and just take time to relax when faced with all sorts of issues.  Today I am smoking what I affectionately say is my "haunted" Gettysburg pipe.  Some scientists say all of life is like the Matrix.  What we see in life isn't real.  Well, I know my pipe and my Tropical Export this morning are real, and I take time to pause from life with a pipe.  I'm sure that golfer was real and I believe that houseboat is real.  And I'm pretty convinced my pipe is real.

Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
