Are You A Pluviophile
A Pluviophile is a rainy day person. Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song about rainy day people. I was searching yesterday about the meaning of "rainy day funds" and how that term originated. We say to make hay while the sun shines, and most understand that, but rainy days in our lives are days when we might need extra cash for emergencies. But getting back to the Pluviophile, rainy day people can sit for hours and watch the rain drops on the window. They will often wear Grey. But mostly, rainy day people love rainy days, so they are Pluvophiles.
According to Gordon Lightfoot in his song, "Rainy Day People," they know just when to call. They also make good lovers, because they are always around when needed for emotional support. Karen Carpenter sang about rainy days and Mondays saying in her song she hates them. A rainy Monday is at best depressing. But getting back to rainy day people, such a Monday is welcomed.
Here in SW Florida, the rainy season is from mid May to mid October. We have had a few cloudy days since we have been here, but generally it is quite sunny, although it is overcast right now.
As a side-note to our discussion this morning about Pluviophiles, I have been smoking some 30 year old tobacco I bought around 1990. I thought about selling it on eBay, but there is no proof of its age. Feb. 20 is International Pipe Smoking Day and this tobacco is Escudo by Dunbar. It is the Holy Grail of pipe smokers and I just happened to have some. I had to pry the jar open with a screw driver, but I found the tobacco stull moist after all those years. It is made with seven types of Virginia with just a bit of Perique.
It is by far the best English tobacco I have ever smoked. Some pipe smokers have pipes dedicated to just English tobaccos. But apart from Good Stuff, I am almost out of all my other tobaccos, so for me this is a "rainy day" and my Escudo is my Rainy Day Fund. So, in honor of Pipe Smoking Day, I thought I would smoke some Escudo. Good choice. Very smooth. Burns nice with no re-lights. I am smoking my Angel pipe this morning. But a good tobacco like Escudo needs a good pipe. Good choices all around. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
