Spring Break in Mexico

The US State Department has issued a warning that US residents avoid travel to Mexico particularly Spring Break college students who are native about traveling in foreign countries.  The State Department says that if you feel you must travel use taxi services and travel in groups and be aware that the major drug cartels are using resorts to launder money.  The Yucatan is sill the safest of Mexican states; tthat cities like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum might be safe for US tourists, but still has said that major tourists destinations are risky adventures.

What the major drug cartels are doing are kidnapping and murder along with extortion.  If those in college want a safe Spring Break, the popular traditional US places, mostly in Florida and Myrtle Beach are great alternatives.  Aa a side note to all this Daytona Beach is one of the most dangerous beaches in the US due to sharks and rip tides.  Daytona Beach has become less popular because the city itself has become run down and is not as an attractive place as it used to be.

Now, I read all this about Spring Break this year.  I never had a Spring break experience and don't feel I missed anything.  And I am not sure that due to Covid that Spring Break is what it used to be.  I don't know.  And I am not sure what to expect here in Southwest Florida in regard to the hurricane with many of the beaches being closed.  But it's sad as to what has developed in Mexico in recent years.

We have had the best vacations in Mexico, however now Us residents seem to be at risk just about most countries south of the border.  The Caribbean countries and Islands are relatively safe places for travel, except that Jamaica now has one of the highest murder rates of any of the Caribbean except for Hairi, which has been on the State Department's list for years now.

But maybe I can say I am on a permanent Spring Break.  I am on the patio with my Willard Pipe my wife gave me for Christmas.  I don't have a lot of Autumn Evening left, but I will smoke that until it is gone.  Then I'll go back to my Good Stuff that I have.  Here is hoping you have a great day.  I thank you for your time and Peace to each of you.

Dave
