What Humans Have Wrought
There are 2600 palm tree species in Florida and only 12 of those are native to the state. I don't have to go down the list of all the species in Florida that are not native to the state. I wrote about Iguanas recently none of which are native to the state. There are over 900 species of Geckos world wide. Of those, 14 species reside in Florida, and only one of those species is native to Florida.
An emaciated alligator was discovered in a pond in NYC recently, which was so emaciated it could barely move. Someone thought a little Alligator would be cute to own until it gets big enough to kill the owner. Same way with little Pythons that grow up to be big Pythons and can swallow a small child. Pythons have pretty much taken over the Everglades.
I don't know what the solution is to solve this problem other than to say people must be educated about introducing foreign animals not native to this country, letting them go in the wild. But the problem is people will do it anyway. It's the same with the rivers that are drying up. These are the result of selfishly misusing the water by diverting it and building dams by controlling the water for electric power.
Again, there are politics involved, and there are state powers that control the water. There are treaties with Native Ameeicans and agreements that go back a hundred years when water was abundant and there was plenty to go around. But misuse and mismanagement in addition to the drought conditions in addition to farmers coming in and using the water for irrigation, but perhaps most of all has been evaporation due to the heat and soil conditions.
Humans can really mess up a perfect balance of nature. I don't have a solution to any of these problems, but perhaps the various Palm trees have, at least, made for some interesting landscapes here in Florida. And really, I will do my part to suggest we don't mess with nature. But some will say we need dams for electricity, etc.
Well, I don't have solutions for the water crisis that is happening all over the globe. But I have a way to deal with it all. I am smoking my Savinelli Author pipe this morning with my mix of Good Stuff and BCA. It is a rather good mixture, as Black Cavebdish makes for an excellent blending tobacco. And I will have some Taste of Temptation later this morning. It was a good day here yesterday for Internatiinal Pipe Smoking Day. So, I thank each of you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
