Wrong Name
I've been calling this jar of tobacco I have by the wrong name. Escudo exists, but then so does Esoterica by Dunbar. And that is what it is if someone were to call me out on it. So to set the record straight, it is Esoterica. I wasn't going to write about tobacco today, but I received my shipment of tobacco last evening. I just had time to smoke a bowl of my own mixture.
I thought at one point I wouldn't give tobacco reviews, particularly if I have had one bowl of a particular tobacco. But in my shipment yesterday was four ounces of Lane BCA, which is a Black Cavendish. I am not sure how to describe Black Cavendish except to say it is very dark and by itself has a kind of Licorice flavor. Most pipe smokers won't smoke Black Cavendish by itself, but might blend it with a Virginia based maybe flavored tobacco.
Now, I have said I don't like to review a tobacco after just one bowl or even having smoked several bowls in one pipe. Because tastes change from day to day. But I blended those four ounces of Lane BCA with an equal amount of the Good Stuff tobacco. And what I got was an incredibly good surprise. It worked! I had only one bowl of the mix before going in last night, but the mixture was excellent. Good Stuff by itself is quite good and is an excellent blending tobacco.
So, adding Lane BCA with it, was in my thinking an excellent choice. I still have some Good Stuff by itself left. But this morning I am smoking A Taste of Temptation by Suliff, but is manufactured under the Missouri Meerschaum company. It was a limited edition tobacco for Valentine's Day and is a top 25 seller for Smoking Pipes. My wife says it doesn't smell as good as the Tropical Export I smoked yesterday, but still smells good. It is an Almond Cherry blend. I am smoking it in my St. Nicholas pipe by Savinelli.
Well, I just wanted to set the record straight for Esoterica and not Escudo. Have a good day all. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
