Aleviating Fears

I know there is a lot of fear in the world today and perhaps nothing is as fearful as the collapse of the banking industry.  The fact is such fears have had an affect on Wall Street.  But the fear is real and so are the possibilities.  I don't know how to alleviate such fears.  I just don't.  Most might say there is comfort in numbers.  Others might say that Wall Street gets jittery when someone sneezes.  Some might blame the political system, whichever side you are on, the other side is to blame.

The fact is that no industry is immune from the ways of policy makers.  The banking industry has been part of a political football since the founding of the Federal Reserve Bank, which is governed by an independent board of directors.  The US Government borrows from that bank and it issues money based on a complex formula.  But the fact is that while Washington has been tweaking with the banking system, since the great depression, the US has gone through a number of recessions, but I see a lot of gloom and doom about the US economy and the US banking system.

Ate we now at that point?  I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos and I have not seen as many gloom and doom predictions about the world economy as I have of late.  I am not going to make my own predictions, but the signs don't look good.  So, what can a person do about all this?  Probably not much the average person can do.  We wait like the rest of the world and see what each day brings.  Meanwhile, as they say, smoke 'em if you got 'em.  And I have them!

Today I am smoking my Peterson System pipe with some Sunset Rum.  Pipe smokers tend to be a laid back lot.  A pipe smoker tends not to let the issues of the day ruffle their feathers, so to speak.  We roll with the punches.  And any other hackneyed cliche you can think of.  But that's a pipe smoker.  Often we are accused of smoking that funny stuff in our pipes, but really, we're just laid back about life.  As my wife said last night, we pipe smokers can worry about cancer instead.   Some of us are professional, but still a pipe just is reassuring us that all is going to be okay.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
