Connected to the World
I don't use my phone for social interaction too much. And for all practical purposes I probably don't need a Smartphone. I could probably get by with just a regular cheap phone. I gave up an iPhone for an Android phone and am regretting that decision. Our car has Apple Carplay, but only Bluetooth connectivity for Android. My next phone will be an IPhone. But my purpose for having one isn't for games or social interaction, but my Smartphone keeps me informed.
I do most on my phone that would be done with a PC laptop, but my phone keeps me connected to the world. I use it for some texting, but somehow a Smartphone device makes me feel connected to the world and not isolated as a regular phone would make me feel. I often will smoke my pipe, read the news, and watch videos, especially YouTube. I use it for photography and replaces a DSLR instead. I enjoy using my phone for photos and movies.
But its connectivity to others and the world is what I feel I need. I would feel too isolated from others and the world with just a regular phone. I like being connected to others and I enjoy being connected to the world through the Internet. I will often use my computer to watch vids at night due to its larger screen and keyboard. But like the posts I write for this blog, I will use my phone for writing the most. I send most email by phone and most shopping is done on my phone. I could say I don't really need a PC laptop, but I buy a new one every five years or so.
But I just feel most comfortable with a Smartphone everywhere I go. I just read that losing a Smartphone is about like having a heart attack when one discovers it is missing. Neither my wife and I never go anywhere without our phones. She's much more connected to others than I am. And her panic about not having it is much worse than mine. But I know the feeling of misplacing a phone. No one wants to replace a lost phone!
I use my phone for an alarm clock in the morning and always check it before falling asleep. But the connection I have to family and a few others with my phone just can't be replaced by anything else. I've had a Smartphone since I don't know when. I think it was the early 2010's that I had my first Smartphone. I just can't see myself with anything else. It has been said that a Smartphone will replace a wallet or a billfold and will be used for licenses and other identification. We haven't reached that point, but I think eventually everyone will have to have one.
Well, those are my thoughts for now. I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
