I Can't Stress it Enough
I could write about so many things today, but I keep stressing the point that I smoke a pipe for one basic reason: Relaxation. The whole world seems as though everyone is facing stresses of all kinds. I have been asked what our plans are, whether we stay in this house or we find a place of our own. My wife and I discussed home ownership, and neither of us want to own a home again. We have made Cape Coral home here for the past several months and it seems to us that rent here is fairly reasonable.
But I told her I have one requirement for a new place, and that is that I can smoke my pipe with few restrictions. I haven't smoked indoors for several years now and I must say that smoking my pipe in the garage in NY in the dead of winter was totally miserable. A day here in Florida has not gone by that has prevented me from smoking my pipe outdoors. Early last evening I sat here on the patio and I began watching a video of one of my fellow pipe smokers smoking a cigar with a glass of Bourbon. I decided to smoke my other Hemmingwsy Short Story cigar with a shot of Tullamore Dew whiskey my other son bought for me.
I became as relaxed as I had not been for some time. First, I don't recommend alcohol; and second I do not recommend cigars. In fact, I'll never recommend smoking a pipe. I might defend my pipe smoking as a kind of religious experience, but that would take a great deal of explaining. I smoke a pipe for relaxation and I know that when I am relaxed others around me are too.
I know I write about relaxation a lot, but I cant stress it enough. Reaxation might be the ONLY reason why I smoke a pipe. What one does for relaxation can be many things. But what I do for relaxation is smoke my pipe. This morning I am smoking my Alpha pipe with the last of my Apricots and Cream. I gave a cursory review of this tobacco the other day. When I opened the tin, the tobacco was a dark Cavendish and had the aroma of something sweet. But smoking it makes for a rather bland smoke. I commented that I won't be ordering mote. It's time to move on to something else. I like my Sunset Rum so much better. It has the same appearance as Apricots and Cream, but the Rum flavor is so much more intense. And I still enjoy my Good Stuff/Cherry blend as well.
I thank you for your time this morning and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
