NCAA Basketball and a Little Fox
The only time I have watched a full basketball game of any kind this year has been this week. I have been tempted to give up watching sports all together, but somehow it seems college basketball and football has some story to tell. After football season I just couldn't watch basketball of any kind. But the tournament always has a story. This year it was number one ranked Purdue getting beat by a number 16 seed. It hasn't happened that a 16 has defeated a number 1 seed since 2018. That was the first time it happened.
In four days the field of 64 is reduced to a field of 16. Every game tells a story. This is true of college football, but there are the usual suspects in college football with the rare exceptions. I enjoy the drama of both college basketball and college football. I didn't want my son's involved with football, but it was their choice anyway as they participated in music and drama. But the fact is I enjoy the drama of these college sports. Particularly at the end of the season for both sports.
The fact is that some years the games are exciting and this year not so much so. Now, I know a lot of you aren't into the tournamen or even sports in general. I can remember a time when smoking was allowed in stadiums and arenas and after the games a haze would form, particularly in the indoor arenas because of all the people who smoked in the arenas. But today, there is nothing like it used to be. I can't say I miss the old days, but I do enjoy smoking my pipes and the occasional cigars.
I say occasional for cigars because three or four a year is about all I can take. But this morning I am still breaking in my Sherlock Holmes pipe and I must say it has become a very fine pipe in my collection. I am smoking only one bowl of Briar Fox today and this is it. I still have a lot of Cherry Cavendish left I will continue to smoke. I like Briar Fox, but being pretty much a Virginia tobacco it has some nicotine kick to it and must be smoked slowly. But anything good deserves to be enjoyed slowly.
There are so many tobaccos to try and I still have my favorites. But when I order tobacco I'll always order a couple of ounces I have never tried before. But I'll keep Briar Fox in mind. The high today will get up into the low 70's. It's sunny this morning. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
