A Change of Scenery
I have sat by the pool and have written these posts from the patio of my son's house. I now have a change of scenery as I sit on the lanai of our second floor condo and comment on whatever I see in the large canal in the back of our condo. The owner says she has sat here and has seen dolphins, manatees, and the occasional boat go by. I don't know if I will see the fins of sharks sticking out of the water, but the fact is we will be here for the next seven months.
My pipe cabinet and pipe collection could be kept out here as there are hurricane shutters, if needed to protect this part of the condo. But actually, it's more peaceful here and quite conducive for writing. The sun shines in here during the morning hours, but the remainder of the day the lanai is shaded. It really is quiet here and is very idyllic. A change of scenery is nice. We had a hot tub guy fixing the hot tub who said the pool my son has is larger than most he's seen. I told him about an estimate we received to put a new coating on the pool. He said that was a lot. Then I added we're getting other estimates.
There is a pool here, but I can't see it from my vantage point on the lanai, but being able to view the canal as we can makes up for it.
Now, I had an order of tobacco that included a selection of eight different tobaccos. I've decided on Old Professor as my English tobacco, which I won't smoke too often. But instead of sampling tobacco blends, I can get as much for half the cost if I stay with Autumn Evening or Tropical Expprt. So, never mind all those tobaccos I listed the other day. I've found my three favorites now. The occasional bowl of Old Professor won't be too bad, but I know my wife likes the other two.
My son will now have his house to himself and with any houseguest(s) he chooses. We won't be in the way. We will drop in a few times a week and we are in touch with insurers and the pool people. We think we finally have the hot tub fixed and is working. That only took three visits and a few texts messages to get it going again. We need to get his lanai over his pool fixed. We'll work on that next.
A change of scenery is nice. We got my pipes organized yesterday evening and we took inventory of what is here and what we might need. Then once we settle in here, we will begin working on what we do once oir lease is up. My wife has been been in touch with the owner and we're ready to make this place our home. But the change is a pleasant one.
As for my pipes it looks like I will be smoke-free for a couple of weeks. I won't go into detail but I won't be smoking my pipe for a while. Maybe I can kind of explain that later. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
