Peterson Aran Smooth Fishtail Pipe
So, one might understand about putting another Peterson pipe on my shopping list. One of the major differences is the fishtail stem, which is a more traditional stem as opposed to the P-lip stem on my other Peterson pipes. The Aran line of pipes is the least expensive of the Peterson line of pipes, but that is not to say it isn't as good. This pipe is more in line with traditional pipes without a lot of the Peterson patents. What is obvious is the missing nickle or silver band around the shank end of the pipe.
But that is not to say the Peterson Aran pipes are cheaply made. On the contrary, while the price is less than a hundred the Aran pipes are perfect for the beginner and for the more experienced, they are still excellent pipes. Unlike my Sherlock Holmes pipe, this pipe is smooth with the same size large 05 bowl. The finish is a chocolatety dark color like my other Peterson pipe, but what appeals to me most is that the finish is smooth.
While it might be lower priced than other Peterson pipes, it is an excellent pipe with the same quality Peterson puts into every pipe. While it might look similar to my Sherlock Holmes pipe, it is a very different pipe. It is different from my System Standard pipe. But the fact is, aa a Peterson, it possesses the same quality of a Peterson costing several times more. The same quality goes into the less expensive Aran line. No corners are cut. The fishtail stem costs less to produce than the higher end P-lip stem.
But if one wants a good quality pipe for less, the Aran line is one of the best places to begin. The smooth finish costs a bit more and adds to the esthetics of the pipe. But one can't go wrong with an Aran pipe. They come in many shapes, and different textures. I happen to like the Calabsh shape and the smooth finish just adds a touch of class that is missing on the sandblast finish, like my Sherlock Holmes pipe. So, I thought I would post this pipe this morning, because I added it to my list.
This morning I am smoking my Stanwell Danish Design Authentic Finish pipe number 83, with my first bowl of the day, which is Old Professor. It has been a bit cooler in the mornings here in the past couple of days, as it is today. Temps right now are in the upper 60's and will get to the low 80's by afternoon. I have a dentist appointment this morning to get my teeth cleaned. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
