Some Aren't what You Think

 Celebrities have a following and with social media comes scrutiny.  Mel Gibson has come to the fore by not being a very nice person to put it mildly.  But there are others, while at the same time there are celebrities who are worthy of the moniker.  It all depends.  But social media now has exposed the sins of most everyone.  No one has secrets any longer.  Bit that is a price to be paid by social media and celebrity status.  

I decided long ago not to involve myself with social media,  but the fact is it's a two-edged sword.  One ALMOST can't survive without it.  And there are those of us who are indifferent to social media all together.  I am indifferent to any negative reporting on most anyone, unless they have murdered someone.  But hatred and jealousy runs deep in Hollywood with some earned and some not.  

I don't consider myself a celebrity, but let me just say that for 30 years I have been a changed person.   But I have a goal in mind that rises above any negative thoughts anyone might have of me.  I don't have the wealth and status of Mel Gibson, for example, but I have a goal that living in a new place might offer me.  When I smoke my pipe, I know a by-product is relaxation, but what I seek more than anything else is Peace.

I have become indifferent to politics and to another degree, religion.  I just don't care as I don't really care about what kind of person people like Mel Gibson might be.  I've often thought wealth and power create jerks, and I think that assessment is more true than not.  Mel Gibson just might be the worst of the jerks in Hollywood.   But I say "might" simply because I have now seen several articles saying that he is not nice.  

But money and power often create jerks.  I might be best as I am, although I MIGHT have a hidden superpower very few know.  I mean really, no one knows mild-mannered Clark Kent is Superman.  But Superman is just a threat to bad guys.  So, sometimes I wonder what it's like to have a superpower very few know I have.  I think everyone fantasizes about a superpower to some degree.  

But I know I don't have a superpower.  But I know things.  I seek Peace.  And maybe that is my superpower.  And I could say it all comes from my pipe.  It would be cool if Clark Kent smoked a pipe, but what would he do with it as he transitions from Clark Kent to Superman?.  But Peace begins with relaxation.  One can't have peace if one isn't relaxed.  Maybe Peace and relaxation go together.  I could say that there ARE health benefits for me from pipe smoking.  Of course, I can't prove this unless I live to some old age and say pipe smoking IS the reason.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

 I won’t collect them all and maybe I’ll just have the one Sherlock Holmes pipes.  But it just might be my favorite series of pipes and if I collected them all it would take years for me to do so.  The other series is the Dracula series also by Peterson but I have no interest in the Dracula pipes.  I have my one Sherlock Holmes pipe, but what sets them apart is that they each have a silver band with the Sherlock head stamped on each one.   This makes each pipe different and although they might be similar to other Peterson pipes, each Sherlock Holmes pipe is very distinct and different.  If I were to get another pipe in the series it might be the Professor’s pipe so named for Professor Moriarty.  Each style was smoked by a character either in the book, on stage, or in the movies about Sherlock Holmes and his various enemies.   Each pipe is different and unique and comes in price ranges from about $125-$300.  I’m not interested in the more expe...

Almost

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
