Staying Positive
I try to be as upbeat as I can when I am writing these essays. It is Tuesday afternoon as I write and I am smoking my Savinelli Author pipe today. I had an essay ready to go asking whether world cities are in ruin. I've since deleted that essay believing it bordered on politics and was quite dark. There are enough informative material on the various social media sites telling you all you need to know. I have turned off those videos I thought to be dark and instead I try to watch YouTube videos of other stuff.
If you want to know about a collapsing economy or about the sinking of Venice, you can watch gloom and doom videos all you want, but so much of it is depressing. The other evening my wife and I watched a Hollywood Squares video from the late seventies and laughed at every Paul Lynd answer. He was just so cleverly funny and that show was a perfect forum for his humor.
There is no doubt that the Match Game was perfect for Richard Dawson which launched his career as the host of Famiky Fued. I don't care he kissed all those women and married a contestant. He was a superb host and really couldn't be replaced until Steve Harvy came along. But now that show just isn't the same, but Harvy is a popular host. I liked Richard Dawson and I don't care that he and Gene Rayburn fooled around on set. That's the way things were back then. Today they would be considered creepy old men. And maybe even perverts.
But those old shows can't be replicated in today's world. A number of questions back then might be considered tame when compared to the Match Game Show of today. But the stars back then were having fun. It seems in today's world stars and comedians aren't having fun. They entertain for the money and that is about it. They all fear losing sponsors. But if you want people who entertain for the joy of entailing these old shows are fun to watch. Most of those stars have since passed away, but they left behind a lot of enjoyment.
There are just too many dark videos made today about dark subjects. I watch the videos made in the 50's and early 60's about the future and those videos are so positive. Today's videos about the future are very dark. It just seems that today's generation grew up believing the future is hopeless. I tend to think not. There is still a lot of good positive videos being made and that the future isn't all dark and hopeless. I'm still a part of that generation who believed in love and peace and maybe I'm just naive. I tend to think not, however, because I still see the possibilities.
I'm not giving up on this generation and I'm not giving up on society. I simply consider myself to be different, but in a positive way. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
