Why is it a Spellchecker?

I wasn't sure what I would post today, but my wife said yesterday's post had a typo error.  I went back and corrected "hobgoblin," but you'd think that my spellchecker would have caught that.  I went back and corrected "nobgoblin" to "hobgoblin," but only after everyone read it.  Another common error is "pioe" for "pipe," but you'd think my spellchecker would catch it.  It doesn't.  One of the most irritating things my spellchecker does, is that I will write about Angels and it always spells out "Angel's" with an apostrophe.

Sometimes if I correct Angel's" to "Angels" it will then leave out the apostrophe.  I sometimes can't win, because I always need to check my work simply because my spellchecker doesn't catch all my errors.  Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.  I almost wish at times I can disable the spellchecker, but I'm not sure it's in my phone settings or in Blogger.  I've just learned to live with it, because sometimes it catches my mistakes and sometimes there are words I want to type it doesn't recognize and always replaces my word with its own word.  I can't win.

I have a perfect love/hate relationship with my spellchecker.   I don't understand how it lets "pioe" get by and wants to put an apostrophe in "Angels."  I don't mention Angels here.  But there are places I need to write "Angels."  But Angels is just an example.  It's just that sometimes my spellchecker does me favors and sometimes it doesn't.  I do 99% of my writing on my phone.  I actually spend very little time writing on my computer, but on my computer "pioe" would be underlined as an error that needs correcting.  My phone lets it go.

After a year of using my phone, I've learned to go back over my work knowing pretty much what the spellchecker does, but sometimes like "nobgoblin" I'll miss an error.  And sometimes my wife will read a post and see a blatant error like that and tell me, but by then it's probably too late.  Everyone has read it by then.  But just bear with me is all I can ask.  Even my computer will underline words I intentionally want to write, but there I can add it to my word list.  Here I can't.

You'd think after some 500 posts, I'd learn by now, but I'm always working on something and still learning how the darned thing works.  I love how it automatically does things, but hate how some blatant errors get by it.  Now, I figured you'd know I'd get around to comparing my spellchecker to my pipes.  Most often I can pack a pipe perfectly, and then once in a great while I'll pack a pipe and then have to empty it and reload it.  The only difference being I don't have a love/hate relationship with my pipes.

I love my pipes no matter what.  I have a lot of patience for my pipes.  But less so for my spellchecker.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
