A Personal Note
We officially became Florida residents yesterday with both of us getting Florida licenses and registering our car to the state of Florida. We have now been residents of six states and believe this will be our last transfer of our residence. We know our son's house is at least fairly permanent so we use his address for most everything. I received a copy of the July issue of Esquire magazine here, but my thinking is that because I've ordered tobacco to be sent to our temporary address that it's a complimentary issue from one of the places from which I've ordered tobacco.
It's been a long time since I've received a magazine by mail. But I found the issue interesting. I'm not sure if it's just this one issue or they signed me up for a year. I'd hate to be on a mailing list for this address, but nothing is private any longer. I almost didn't use this condo address, but preferred my tobacco orders to be sent here instead. We now have a fairly permanent Florida address regardless of where we go from here.
My wife and I were looking at the various designs of license plates issued by the state of Florida and we decided on a design that featured Saving Florida's Wilflife with a butterfly. I told my wife a butterfly wasn't very masculine, but I decided that a butterfly looks pretty good on a license plate. I won't get into global warming, but believe the wildlife ecosystem is important to the planet. My wife collects many kinds of butterfly things as did her mom and i find value in preserving wildlife. It's a colorful plate and is well worth the extra cost.
I was with my son the other day, who suggested I bring a few pipes and an ashtray over to his house and just keep them there if we were to come over and spend extra time there. While my wife does a few things there I can sit on the patio and smoke one of my pipes. I decided to keep what I have left of some Old Professor pipe tobacco and I can smoke that at his house as my wife seems to appreciate that tobacco the least of my tobaccos. I can keep a lighter there along with an extra pipe tool I have with some pipe cleaners.
We don't visit his house every day, but we are there a few times a week. So, I chose a few pipes and an extra pipe rack and decided to keep them there. I took off my old plates at his house yesterday and we mailed the old plates back to NY. So, we are officially residents of the great state of Florida. Yes, it gets hot down here. We saw a sign at the DMV that said to drink plenty of water after 11:00 AM and stay indoors until after November 1.
It can get pretty warm out here on the lanai, but most afternoons I go indoors for a couple hours, coming back out here in the late afternoons to smoke my pipe. I'm smoking my Lee Van Cleef Meerschaum pipe this morning with some Early Morning Pipe having smoked the last of my Cult Blood Red Moon. I'll go in for lunch then come back out here later in the day. I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
