About Once a Month

 I order tobacco about once every month or so.  Someone said they like my tobacco reviews.  I've decided to order two tins of tobaccos I've never tried before with my regular order.  I've been wanting to try Carter Hall for some time now.  There is a smaller ounce and half size pouch that right now Smoking Pipes has none available.  But I might buy the 14 ounce tin and keep it at my son's house as I am almost out of my Old Professor.  

There is a brand called Caribbean Blue that has a  line of tobaccos and one of theirs is called Wyme.  I put that in my wish list.  I knew what to expect when I ordered Early Morning Pipe, which is a lighter English blend I like a lot.  However, I don't think I said much here about Cult Blood Red Moon, which is one I hadn't tried until recently.

I want to comment on Cult Blood Red Moon and tell you what I thought of it.  First of all, my wife likes the aroma of Tropical Export better than all the Aromatics I have tried.  Upon opening the tin of Cult Blood Red Moon, there is a very pronounced Cherry aroma.  I thought it might have a more Cherry flavor than it did.  My wife didn't notice the Cherry aroma as I thought she might.  I was disappointed in the lack of Cherry flavor I expected.  

I would probably order more Tropical Export before I order any Cult Blood Red Moon again.   There are advertisements for various tobaccos and deals on the Smoking Pipes website that I see daily.  My next tobacco order will probably be with my next pipe, which will be a Churchwarden pipe.  I keep looking at brands other than Peterson and Savinelli, but one I get a discount on either, and two, I don't want to pay a lot for another pipe.  

I found a Nording handcrafted Churchwarden pipe I put in my wish list on the Smoking Pipes website.  It is pictured above and is priced similar to both the Peterson and the Savinelli.  There is a handcrafted Churchwarden by Nording, but i didnt like it as well as the more traditional designs.  When I order more tobacco, we shall see how much I want to spend on a new pipe, but I am far from making that decision.

It's supposed to get up to 97 degrees here later this afternoon.  On these hot days, I've decided to be out here on the lanai for just an hour or so in the mornings and come back out later in the late afternoons or early evenings.  I'm not smoking my pipe as much, but the heat does have an affect on how I feel.  

Today it is my Savinelli Arcobaleno Blue pipe with a bowl of Tropical export, and of course I'll write about my next order to Smoking Pipes after I place it and I do think it will include a pipe, but it's just to early to decide on which one.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

 I won’t collect them all and maybe I’ll just have the one Sherlock Holmes pipes.  But it just might be my favorite series of pipes and if I collected them all it would take years for me to do so.  The other series is the Dracula series also by Peterson but I have no interest in the Dracula pipes.  I have my one Sherlock Holmes pipe, but what sets them apart is that they each have a silver band with the Sherlock head stamped on each one.   This makes each pipe different and although they might be similar to other Peterson pipes, each Sherlock Holmes pipe is very distinct and different.  If I were to get another pipe in the series it might be the Professor’s pipe so named for Professor Moriarty.  Each style was smoked by a character either in the book, on stage, or in the movies about Sherlock Holmes and his various enemies.   Each pipe is different and unique and comes in price ranges from about $125-$300.  I’m not interested in the more expe...

Almost

 Tomorrow ends the 14th year since my hear attack.  I had the widow-maker and only by the grace of God and a good heart surgeon I survived.  I had never experienced such pain in my life!  I knew I wasn’t going to die but my heart was damaged so much it functions at about 50%.   It was a Saturday and we were going to visit my mom.  The timing couldn’t have been better!  We could have been out on the road.  It was about nine O’clock in the morning and I had to pump up a tire on the car.  The funny thing is I had a BP check in October and it was 120/80 with no signs of anything being wrong.   I was about 30 pounds over weight and I simply was not taking very good care of myself.  I was under some duress during that time, but still no sign of it happening.  My wife questioned as to whether it was a heart attack but I told her to call 911.  I had no doubt what was happening.   The squad came and they confirmed it was a hea...

A Different Kind of Birthday

I might be the only one my age who says I’m fourteen today but I suppose if you were to ask my family I’m in my second childhood so-to-speak.  But yesterday I made a big deal out of my heart attack but today not so much.    It’s not that I fear death—no, I fear pain.  Death doesn’t frighten me in the least.  I have talked with many who have had that kind of heart attack and the women have said it’s worse than child birth.  There really isn’t a pain like it they have said.  If I could go without the pain I’d be in heaven right now.   But if I had to go through that pain to get there I’d rather live.  But a lot has happened in these last fourteen years.  And I’ve been alive to live my life relatively pain free.  My appendicitis wasn’t all that painful but the stomach tube was annoying enough.  But we sold our home and invested in another place in NY and now live with our son here in Florida.   I’m limited in what u do and I ...
