Sunday Morning Coffee
There is an album called Sunday Morning Coffee my wife and I enjoy listening to on Sunday mornings. It is produced by American Gramaphone and is performed and arranged by Chip Davis of the Christmas albums produced by the same company called Fresh Aire Christmas. We have just about every Fresh Aire album ever made. But when it's not that time of year the Sunday Morning Coffeee album is one of my favorites. There is something special about Sunday mornings.
There have been songs written about Sunday morning. I won't go into details here, but both Johnny Cash and the Monkees performed songs about Sunday mornings. I don't know what it is aboit Sunday mornings, but it seems a cup of hot strong coffee on a Sunday morning with good background makes Sunday mornings special.
There was a time when Sunday mornings meant Subday School and church services, but now it is a special time to sit back and relax. While Sunday's could be just another day, it seems it's special. But don't ask me why. Here on the lanai, it might mean more boats and people overall are more relaxed and friendly on Sunday's. It might be just me, but it seems Sunday's are family days or it just might mean more relaxation on Sundays.
If you've never heard of American Gramaphone, Manheim Steam Roller, Fresh Aire, or Chip Davis, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with these names. They have terrific production values and the music is all electronic. They're different from the rock of Trans Siberian Orchestra. Really though for a Sunday morning the music of Sunday Morning Coffee fits the mood perfectly. It's the only time we listen to this album, but once in awhile I will turn it on if I just want something different.
Sunday's used to be a day of getting ready for church and not just attending on Sunday mornings, but the getting ready for youth meetings in the evening and attending church services at night. Those days are long gone, but Sunday evenings were a time of getting ready for Monday mornings. We wake a little earlier on Mondays these days, but Sunday afternoons was time to catch up on school work. But it was a time to catch the last rays of daylight for playing outside in the summer months.
Now, our time is less hectic on Sundays and is a time to catch a breather before the new week begins. But now a summer Sunday is a lazy day to not do much after the housework is finished. I'm sitting on the lanai this morning watching the boats go slowly by. It's a great day with good coffee, pleasant music, a boat now and then, with a good pipe and fine tobacco. I'm smoking my Angel pipe this morning with some Cult Blood Red Moon the USPS just delivered this morning. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
