A Good Dog

I'm finished evaluating this group of tobaccos from my most recent order and now it's time for something different.  A man who had a broken leg and walking with a limp took his dog to the vet because the dog seemed to be injured and he too, was walking with a noticeable limp.  The man spent £300 ot about $400 for x-rays and treatment.  The owner was certain the dog had been injured or that something was desperately wrong with the dog.  The man who owned the dog lived in London and everwhere he took the dog for a walk, people would ask what was wrong with his dog.

After all that time and expense the vet explained to the owner there was nothing wrong with the dog.  The vet asked the owner how long he had his cast.  The man thought for a moment and explained to the vet that his dog started walking as if he were injured about the same time he broke his leg.  The vet thought for a moment and said the dog was mimicking him as they took walks together.  The man was very thankful his dog was okay.

I think aboit $400 is the most we have spent on a pet.  But this shows you how faithful pets are to their owners.  This is a heartwarming story about a dog and his owner.  What a faithful dog that he would mimick the walking limp of his owner!

I found the story heartwarming, because having owned a dog and several cats, I can tell you that pets get very attached to their owners and family.  For this owner spending $400 for seemingly no reason was worth it to find out the dog is just fine.  The vet says that once the owner's leg is healed the dog will be too.  Now when they walk down the street together, Londoners are apt to stop and smile as the two limp together down the street. Everyone seems relieved the dog is just fine.

We've talked about owning another two cats or a small dog, but pet ownership is a huge untmdertaking, particularly if one does any amount of traveling.  Aa this story illustrates, pets can be great companions, but they are a lot of work to own. Then there are boarding fees and visits to the vet and pets can take a financial toll as this story illustrates.  For this reason we probably won't own any more pets, but too pets make great companions.

My pipes require little maintenence and give me a lot of pleasure and relaxation.  I often believe my pipes know what I am thinking and the tobacco can speak to me.  But pets are a huge responsibility.  My pipes won't tear up things if they ate ignored.  Today it is my Tim West pipe with some nice Captain Black Original.  I began this day with a bowl of Consummate Gentleman, and other than a little attention, my pipes demand nothing of me but to enjoy them.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
