A Travel Day
We're heading to our home in NY today. Sitting on the lanai this summer, watching the boats, the dolphins, and a rare manatee has been special. But there are times I miss the deer, the wild turkeys, and the rare bear that roams in the area in NY. I miss the forests and the long winding drive on our hill. We weren't there all that long, but even the snow made things pretty in spite of the cold.
I left behind some tobacco and a few things for my pipes. We will take some things out to the garage we'll bring back once we get settled in a new place down here in Florida. We need to get some personal things settled and we're looking forward to going back, if just for a week. A break from the summer heat down here will be pleasant. I'm looking forward to smoking my pipe on the deck. In fact, I'm looking forward to going back, if only for a week.
I did a lot of writing from our deck in NY. Actually, the house would be perfect for a writer who enjoys solitude, because it is so quiet and peaceful, but for some maybe too much so. I enjoyed an occasioinal glass of wine on the deck in the early evenings. The pool will remain covered, as it wouldn't be worth it to open it for just a week.
This one will be shorter today, but my thoughts are in NY today. The house is a long ways from most anything, which is either good or bad, so we'll have a car while we're there. I'm just sitting on the lanai as we get ready to leave. I'm smoking my Peterson System pipe again this morning. I very seldom smoke the same pipe two days in a row. I'm smoking my pipe with some Autumn Evening and I thank you for your time. Peace to each one of you.
Dave
