An Introduction

Let me introduce you to Captain Black and a few other tobacco blends today.  I'll review these tobaccos when I have the opportunity to smoke them, but allow me to explain why I ordered each one.  Lane Limited owns the Captain Black label.  Lane has been around since 1890.  In fact, I have had a number of Lane tobacco blends most notably Lane 1-Q, which is their best seller and is usually in the top 5 on Smoking Pipes List of sales for tobacco.

Captain Black Cherry is a good tobacco and as an Aromatic is usually also in the top 5 or at least the top 10 sellers.  There is a reason for this.  The Cherry flavor is subtle, but it has such a pleasant room note for others to enjoy.  On my list to purchase is not Captain Bkack Cherry as I had a seven ounce tin of that already.  I enjoyed the Cherry blend, but I have not had the Dark, or the Platinum, both os which are on sale this week.

I have had the Original Captain Black, but decided to add a seven ounce tin to my order.  The other two come in pouches, so I consider these to be more samples, like Half and Half and Mixture No. 79.  The Captain Black Dark is a steam processed tobacco, which is a dark Cavendish.  Cavendish tobaccos are always almost black in color and possess a rich Vanilla flavor.  I like just about any Cavendish tobacco because the room note is always very pleasant for others.

Platinum is described as an Aro with a sweet pleasant taste good for most any time.  It is a combination of sweet Virginia with an equal amount of Burley.  Some pipe smokers don't enjoy Burley as much, but I have found Burley tobaccos to be quite enjoyable.  Some complain that Burley tobaccos have a kind of cigarette aroma, but a good aged Burley has a rather earthy taste that balances well with a sweet aged Virginia.

The Captain Black Original has Burley and sweet Virginia mixed with Black Cavendish to give this tobacco a very pleasant flavor that can be enjoyed anytime and is the best seller of all the Captain Black blends.  Another tobacco I am ordering is Eileen's Dream by CAO, which I first discovered from their cigars.  Eileen's Dream is almost always listed first on every list of the most pleasant Aromatic blends. Eileen's Dream begins with a frothy mixture of Irish Whiskey and coconut milk.  Then Vanilla, hazelnut, cocoa, and ground almonds are added for additional flavorings.

Consummate Gentleman is an Ashton blend that is an English blend that is mild in character and has Virginia's, Maryland, and Burley tobaccos mixed in with just a pinch of Latakia.  This is blended by Ashton, which also makes exceptional cigars.  I just wanted to try a more traditional English blend and believe this is a good choice.

Wyme by Caribbean Blue is last on my list.  It has Virginia's and Burleys with some Cavendish, with flavorings of Rum, Vanilla, and Honey mixed in.  I believe this might be similar to my Tropical Export, but I want to find out what all the fuss is about in regard to the Caribbean Blue line of tobaccos.  This concludes my list.  I'll review these once I get the opportunity to do so, but maybe the one question mark might be the English blend of Consummate Gentleman.  But I'll include a good English I haven't tried with each order, because I really love English tobaccos, but my wife not so much.  Today it is my Boswell with Autumn Evening; and as always, I thank you for your time, and Peace to each one of you.
