It's Missing
A Cessna 402 left the Ft. Lauderdale Airport with one person aboard. That plane flew into the Bermuda Triangle and is feared to be down with that one person feared dead. Que the Twilight Zone theme. That lone pilot might have made his escape and is drinking Margaritas at a Nassau Beach bar under an assumed name. Or maybe he is dead. But a search is on for the plane. Now, I mention this because as boat rescues are so common, private aircraft often go missing.
When a huge airliner like MH370, which disappeared a number of years ago, goes missing, well that IS news. But boats can sink and it's not a rare occurrence for a private plane to go down. Am I trying to debunk the Bermuda Triangle mystique? Well, I have done some reading about various places in the world like the Bermuda Triangle. There ARE explanations, but still, explanations are more like theories. We simply don't know.
There is a Triangle on Lake Michigan. Another is off the coast of Japan and extends to the China Sea. Russia has one and some say there is one in Nevada where Steve Fosse disappeared. The fact is we simply do not know. Where a high number of small planes and boats frequently travel can be dangerous places, because small boats and private planes are known to disappear.
I had an uncle who flew for Pan AM who said he'd never go up in a private place of any kind. And I have a cousin who was in the Coast Guard who once said a small boat has a 50-50 chance of sinking. Any place on earth where small boats sail and private planes fly has greater incidents of disappearances. But still is this an explanation? We simply don't know.
I wish I had an answer, but I don't. In fact, no one does. No trace of any kind has been fount of MH370. We can wonder how a huge airliner just seemed to disappear. We simply do not know. But unless wreckage of this small plane is found, we could say that the Bermuda Triangle has done it again. There are fears this plane or the pilot won't be found.
I'm somewhat skeptical of pilots who fly by themselves. And it seems even boats that disappear with one person on board leaves us with more questions than answers. I'm pretty content to stay on land. It's risky to go up in a plane by oneself. And one shouldn't go boating alone. I have a healthy respect for both sky and water, as I think most of us do. But any place in the world with small craft frequenting an area will see a number of disappearances.
Sometimes I wonder whether such disappearances are suicide missions. Again, we simply don't know. There were and still are questions aboit the mental state of mind of the pilot of MH370. We just don't know. Any disappearance of any light craft raises questions and concerns. But theories are plentiful, especially in regard to the Bermuda Triangle. We simply do not know. Until we know, all we have are guesses.
Well, today I am out on the lanai with my Number 3 Nording smoking Captain Black Original, which I will review tomorrow; and I am quite content to watch the boats go by not wishing I could be among them. I am quite content to be on land where I can smoke my pipe and not worry about being on or in the water, as the case may be. I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you. Be safe.
Dave
