Leaving This Morning

I mentioned Jack Ruby who killed Oswald as the man who killed MLK, Jr.  I meant to say James Earl Ray.  I made the correction in yesterday's post.

We're on our way back to Florida from NY this morning.  I told my wife we can tell people in Florida we have a home in NY, which we can visit most anytime we wish.  We decided to have some stuff shipped down to Florida.  It's been pleasant here, but sometimes it's been hectic as we make decisions on stuff.  We've had the same plate settings since we got married, and both of us just hated to leave it all here.  So, we are taking some of it back with us.

We have DVD's we left behind when we went down, but we want those too.  I have a CD collection I downsized from about 500 to about half I want.  I actually still have a vinyl record collection I downsized that I want in addition to a record player.  And as we went through stuff, we had to make decisions about what we wanted.  We added a recliner to our list of things to take back.  But we moved stuff up here from Ohio we can't take back.

We may be back for some things later, but in a way keeping a few things here reminds us this is still partly our home.  We'll find a more permanent place in Florida come later on, but some stuff was hard to leave behind.  We did downsize before we left for Florida and made tough decisions then.  We had room for more stuff this time, but still had to make some tough choices.

Our son will come up once in awhile for business and will be staying at the house and we'll be up again with more empty suitcases, and while we left quite a bit of furniture, we'll donate that to the house.  We thought there might be pieces we'd take down, but decided some things can be replaced in Florida.  But after 50 years of marriage it's just hard to part with some things.  But there are things we didn't miss after we moved to Florida, but coming back and seeing what we left had us making some tough choices.

Sorting through our things was time consuming and making the tough choices was hard.  But our stuff we left will be in good hands.  Once we get settled in Florida we might not give much thought to what is left in NY.  At least this is our hope.  We think we have the most important stuff and we probably won't give it much thought.

I did spend time with my pipes on the deck and it was nice to just get away for a bit.  Our son's garage will be full, but it's just temporary.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
