Life is Good

 I saw a video by The Southern Piper who gave a review of Half and Half pipe tobacco and said he was going to otder more.  This tobacco has been a staple for pipe smokers for 125 years.  He gave it a thumbs up as I did, but it wont be on my list any time soon.

I really thought I had failed to properly break in my Sherlock Holmes pipe properly, but it has become one of my favorite pipes.  I'm smoking it today.

My wife said yesterday that it is good to be back in Florida.  I thought before moving to Florida last year that the heat and humidity might be oppressive. But such is not the case.  It is good to be back.  I'm still tired, but not like yesterday.  I got a good night's sleep both nights since our return, but I'm veey much more rested today.  We could see the palm trees from the airport windows when we arrived back and I knew after a good day's rest I'd feel better this morning, and I do.  

We both love to see the palm trees down here.  Even in cooler temperatures in winter, they remind me that I won't be shoveling snow or wearing heavy winter coats.  There might be days I will wear long pants and a light jacket, but the palm trees remind us that is just a few days of the year that it's light jacket weather.  A furnace might be needed on a few nights, but palm trees here are perpetual.  Cool weather doesn't linger.  

There is a lot of bad news as of late, but I try to focus on what is good, which is really a lot.  It's just that when I am physically tired, I don't feel as well emotionally.  But being in Florida is like a permanent vacation.  We'll seriously begin apartment hunting in September, but right now, we're just getting ideas.  We want to speak with apartment managers and put our name on a list for the ones that interest us the most.  

Now that we know our personal stuff is arriving in a few days, we will know that we are here to stay and are not just out of state visitors.  I don't mind saying we are from a New York and have a home there, but maybe our next trip to New York, we can go and just relax.  It might have been nice to just relax for a week while in NY, but we had to get back here.  Maybe next time we can go back and take it easy and just relax and enjoy the beautiful setting of our home there.  

Here there are dolphins and manatees and there it is deer and bears.  Here I can stroll the beach and there I can walk in the woods.  This is suburbia and there it is country living.  If we could summer in NY, we'd have the best of both worlds.  We talked about going back and staying longer without having to pack our things.  We didn't bring back everything we wanted, but we packed most of what we felt was important.  

It's just that today, I'm feeling much better and am glad to be back.  I'm well-rested and am happy to relax with my pipe and basking in the warmth of the Florida sun.  It seems summer sunny days in NY are in short supply.  It's much sunnier here in Florida, even on days when it rains.  Today I am taking time to just relax.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Strange

 I can never predict how any of my posts are going to be received but I do get a reaction from my wife quite often, but I'll post about my Spirituality thinking I've said enough and apart from a few other subjects my Spirituality posts do quite well.  I had yesterday's tobacco review done a few days ago and saved it for yesterday and again, it seems my tobacco reviews do quite well.  Then I wrote about my age and it seemed no one cared that much   My wife says that it's my titles for my subjects So, while I have so many subjects to choose from, today it is about how my tobacco choices influence my Spirituality or do they?  Not really.  It's just that I can't smoke my pipes without tobacco.  I could be smoking a lot of things.  Like the question asked when someone thinks you are crazy, " What have I been smoking?"  Well, at least you know.  It's never any "funny" stuff.  You could be asking what I've been drinking.  I have ...

Old Ads

 My wife liked my post about old things we remember.  And a lot of what I remembered was good.  But there was some bad things back then that are different today.  Back in the 50's and 60's and even into the 70's advertising in both magazines and TV were incredibly sexist.  I don't have the space in one post to list all the ads, but really they can be summed by saying that a lot of advertising was incredibly sexist. I 've mentioned my wife lit my pipe for me just a few times, but these days she can barely tolerate the aroma of my most flavorful Aromatic tobacco.  She liked everything I said in that post except my mentioning Old Professor pipe tobacco.  Ironically, I like Old Professor the most and she hates it the most.  So, when I mentioned it, she did too.  But back in the day a man smoking a pipe was his lifestyle.  Today, it's a hobby, and not just for men.
