Looks Like Heaven?

I took the above photo the other evening from our lanai.  My wife suggested I post it here.

Speaking of my wife, we sold off a lot of furniture when we left Ohio.  We left some behind in NY.  My wife and I were discussing our needs for our next place.  I saw on a Facebook post that a girlfriend was upset when she and her boyfriend decided to rent an apartment together.  He went out and bought a 75-inch TV for $480 and set it up on a partially finished TV stand.  He has a folding chair for himself with a cardboard pizza box next to the chair.  She took a photo as they have no other furniture; posted it on Facebook; and then asked for comments.

Now, I'm not asking for comments, but really guys don't want much.  Unless a guy wants a four bedroom house with a man cave.  But some guys just need a big screen TV, a chair, a pizza box, and a computer or a game console.  That's pretty much a guy thing.  And for a lot guys, that's heaven.

I mention this because my wife and I are looking for our next place and we are thinking about what we'll need if a place isn't furnished.  I might start with a 75-inch TV if I can find one cheap enough.  But we're making a list.  And really, that is the only place to begin.  We'll need beds and bedroom furniture.  And we'll need a couch.  We'll have a dining room table which is at my son's place.  It just depends on how much we have to spend.

I might suggest we begin with a TV, but I watch a lot of Hulu+ on my computer.  I might let my wife pick out a TV, but if you want to know the truth I might be more interested in a bed.  I simply want a place where I can sit and smoke my pipe.  I spend more time here on the lanai than I do anywhere else in this condo.  I don't have to have Internet, but she would need it for a TV.

It's just as a guy, I might say a TV and folding chair might be a good start.  However, that TV stand needs to be finished.  And the budget has to include a couch.  That folding chair will need to be replaced.  Maybe a dual recliner couch might be better.  Attention must be given to the bedroom.  So, maybe the guy is off to a good start, but he's far from finished.  And THAT is my point here.  He's far from being finished.  And if he thinks he is, then she has some thinking to do.  I just say it's a start.

Even with the pizza box, it's a start.  The guy has a lot ahead of him.  Let's just hope he doesn't think he's finished.  If he does, then he is in more ways than one.  Every man learns priorities and sometimes it's the significant other who teaches him what they are.  A 75-inch TV with a folding chair won't do.  And neither will a half finished TV stand.  He'll learn.  I guarantee it.

Well, those are my thoughts today as my wife and I begin thinking about our next place.  She'll want a TV.  But then too, that is not all we need.  This is why I say we learn.  He'll learn he is far from finished.  If he thinks he is, she's the one that IS finished!  After almost 50 years of marriage I've learned.  We all do.  It takes years.

I've had my pipes a long time; longer than we've been married.  But I've learned my priorities.  My pipe today is my Nording Number 2.  I've smoked the last of my Velvet this morning and have moved on to Revelation.  This boyfriend needs some revelation too!  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
