Photographs and Memories
Jim Ctoce wrote a song called Photographs and Memories. Okay, I've been writing a lot lately about theology, philosophy, and psychology. I will only say these are my backgrounds in life studies. Today I want to move on to something else. I want to move on, because... well, because. Because we live in Florida now where there are rainbows, sunsets, and beaches. Because life is full of adventures. I have the photographs that remind me of all the places I have been with friends and family. Most of you will be making your own memories.
My first digital camera was purchased in 2004 and was a 2.4 MP camera that did nothing special. It held a 100 MB card. But today, so much has changed and now cameras take stills and can be used for making videos on 128 GB cards, or larger. So much has changed since 2004. We have a ton of photos up to that time and we have made prints of photos taken since 2004, but now a lot of those photos are stored on my phone. My phone has a 50 MP sensor but the best photos are with a 12 MP setting.
We can take a photo, post it on social media, or we can take videos and do the same thing. I used to have a big VHS camcorder. We still have memories stored on VHS tapes, but we no longer have a VHS player. Things have certainly changed in some twenty years.
The fact is that we have our lives historically preserved both digitally and old school. And it's great to be able to both store and share memories. And of course now our memories are stored on our phones. My point today is that we are able to preserve every moment of our lives and even share those moments with the world, if we wish. But I share my thoughts and my moments with a few and keep everything else on file.
Some people will film their ives even while sleeping to let others know what their lives are like. It's as if there are those who are lost if they can't share with others every intimate detail of their lives. Frankly, I don't care enough to pay much attention to those people. But I enjoy when others share what they've seen, read, or are doing, if they believe I will care. And I do. But not strangers. I never subscribed to any music reaction videos, because I don't care enough to watch a steady stream of such vids.
I keep my social life to a minimum and find the channels I want to watch on YouTube, otherwise, I just don't care any longer and have moved on. But any of my contacts can share anything they wish with me and I'll respond. And I realize for some sharing is making a living. I have photos of trips we've taken only a few have seen, but they are a reminder of where I have been in life.
These are just a few thoughts about how so much have changed over the years, but I'm happy to have lived long enough to see the changes. And here is my segue. A pipe is still a pipe. The tobacco has changed, but it's still tobacco. Some processes are over a hundred years old and some are newer. But I'm happy to have witnessed what few changes about pipe smoking there have been and new blends come on the market all the time. Today it is my Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe, which has now become a favorite pipe, with a blend of Super Value Ultra and some Atumn Evening. I decided to put everything I had into one canister and see what kind of blend I would have. I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
