The Passing of The Old Professor

I've smoked the last of my Old Professor.  It is a good English tobacco.  But my wife didn't like the room note as I thought she might.  One reviewer said it reminder his wife of days in college, and therefore she liked it. Another said of his wife that she could imagine her grandfather smoking in his easy chair. But Old Professor didn't bring back such memories for my wife.  She had an uncle who smoked a pipe, but she said he smoked Prince Albeet.

So has Consummate Gentleman dethroned my appreciation for the Old Professor.  It seems it has.  Consummate Gentleman is $12.40 for about and ounce and a half and Old Professor is $2.90 for an ounce.  Old Professor gets even cheaper as one buys more.  I bought a half pound not having tried it, but I knew I'd like it.  I'll just smoke less of Consummate Gentleman and buy it if is on sale or as a special purchase.

It's not that I have to smoke Old Professor.  I want to smoke something my wife can at least tolerate.  She couldn't stand the room note of Wyme.  I've never heard her complain about any tobacco as she did Wyme.  I can't say I'm particularly fond of Wyme.  So, I won't be ordering any mote Wyme.  Consummate Gentleman doesn't come any more less expensive and is sold only in 50g tins.

Some tobaccos I order surprise me and others are not very good.  We both agree on Captain Black Original.  I'll order more of that and keep it on hand.  But I might only smoke a tin of Consummate Gentleman a couple of times a year.  An enjoyable Aromatic can be difficult to find and some might suggest I smoke Old Professor when she's not around.  We are never far from each other.  Her opinions matter.

Einstein smoked a tobacco called Revelation.  Cornell and Diehl has a tobacco called Epiphany, which is supposed to be a match for Revelation.  Maybe you are asking whether I want to feel like an Einstein.  No,  but at about $3.00 an ounce it's something more affordable and put it in my Smoking Pipes wish list.   Have I tried it?  No.

This is a different kind of post today, but if you think I smoke a whole bunch of tobaccos in a day, I don't.  I have one tobacco I'll smoke most of a day.  I just finished a bowl of Captain Black Original.  I have a lot of Wyme left, but for me it is a lot like my thoughts about Eileen's Dream.  But it seems I am quickly working my watmy through Consummate Gentleman.  I have a lot of CBO left.  But really, I have drifted away from my favorites and am smoking a lot of different blends.

Tobaccos can be like spending time with old friends or can be like new friends I might introduce to my wife.  She'll let me know what she thinks of my new friends.  Sometimes I'll be pleasantly surprised by her thoughts, or I just won't spend much time with others.  Or I might smoke something when she's not around.  Some I might put away and maybe try something again in a few weeks or a couple of months.  It just depends.

I got tired of Autumn Evening and after a couple of months it's lost its flavor.  But some tobaccos are like a good friend.  You just want to keep them around.  Like my Captain Black Original in my Gettysburg pipe this morning.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
