From Where I Sit
It seems news of what I am writung about today seems to change almost by the minute, but I can't help but watch what is going on in college football, as I listen to podcasts from both Ohio State and Michigan about the NCAA investigations of the Michigan program. It seems to me that coaches salaries ate based on winning and I've heard at least a few say Harbaugh will leave Michigan for the Chicago Bears. Of course, right now, rumors of all kinds are flying around, and I'll wait for the dust to settle before I make my own conclusions.
I find college football entertaining. Even NCAA investigations are entertaining at best, as often, once the allegations are there, it takes years for the NCAA to move on sanctions. However, investigations of the latest allegation into the Michigan program seems to be moving rather quickly against Michigan with at least a few fans of other BIG schools saying the BIG come to a decision by week's end.
There are a few college coaches that left college coaching for the NFL simply because of the hassles of dealing with the regulations and investigations of minor infractions against NCAA rules. Harbaugh went to Michigan from the 49er's for Stanford after a successful coaching career there. Pete Carrol and Urban Meyer are just two examples of coaches leaving college coaching for the NFL because of the headaches of college coaching.
Harbaugh might be next, but that is simply speculation by a few. Others say Harbaugh will thumb his nose at the NCAA and stay at Michigan just for his spite of the NCAA. The ones mostly hurt by NCAA allegations are the players like Reggie Bush who had to forfeit his Heisman Troohy. Pete Carrol was left no choice but to go to the NFL where he continues to have a successful career. Most any NFL team would welcome Harbaugh were he to leave Michigan. Will he wait out this latest round of another investigation by the NCAA?
It seems most who are in the know say he won't. Like Pete Carrol, he might be fed up with the investigations. But it's always the players and the teams themselves who get hurt the most and they are often just innocent victims of the actions of others. I am making no judgments one way or another, not because I don't care, but because I care about college football. There is no question about the competitive nature of college football and it is a violent sport. But college football produces players who will play in the NFL.
I'll just wait and see what the allegations against the Michigan program produce and it might take years to sort it all out. Meanwhile I'll smoke my pipe and watch along with everyone else. But it seems this is a train wreck I can't help but watch. Has Harbaugh had enough or maybe he won't care. I'll just relax and follow the story. There WILL be games this weekend. And I'll watch at least a couole. I'll smoke my pipe, relax, and wait and see. Today, it is my La Roma Valario pipe with my Super Value Ultra. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
