A Cauldron Pipe
I've decided to get away from writing about my Spiritual journey and just do something different for awhile. I'm going through the Smoking Pipes website and looking for different and usual pipes, regardless of cost. There are pipe collectors out there who don't smoke pipes but collect pipes like one might collect Hummel figurines. These pipes might look great on a single pipestand, ot they might just sit up by themselves.
The pipes I select here are more than likely handcrafted and are some very unusual shapes. The prices will be at least be $500 and I really don't want to look at anything over a grand. These are pipes I would be interested in buying if price were not an object. I can't see paying over a hundred for a pipe, so these are dream pipes, or pipe dreams, much like one might look at dream cars or dream houses that are nice to look at, but in no way could be purchased by the average person.
The pipe pictured above is a Caminetto pipe handcrafted in the shape of a cauldron. The idea of cauldron shaped pipe goes quite a ways back in Italian pipe making history, with some pipe makers from other countries putting their own spin on the cauldron design. So a cauldron in pipemaking is a theme that goes way back in time to the early days of handmade pipe making.
Before selecting a pipe to write about here, I'll first show a pipe that interests me to my wife to see what she thinks of a design. I did that with my pipe selection in yesterday's post and this one again today. The price of today's pipe is $747 and is available, if anyone is interested. I have to say I'm interested. It's just a different pipe. I'm smoking my Angel pipe this morning. I seem to be smoking it more these days and why not? It's a cool pipe! The tobacco this morning is appropriately enough Estate Blend. Makes perfect sense to me. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
