At One Time
The above car is my all-time favorite car. It is a 2015 Aston Martin DB9. I used to think I wanted one. But no mote. Any exotic sports car is for those who have money to burn. These cars depreciate like a rock. Why? They are expensive to own, repair, and maintain. Insurance, depreciation, and new ownership costs ate about $75-100 a mile depending on make and model. The average driver pays about 75 cents a mile. Used and the cost is still pretty pricey. After that a brake job is about $15,000 after about 15,000 miles. Aston Martin IS by far the most expensive exotic sports car made to own. They just look so good. But they're toys for the wealthiest.
Aston Martin's are notorious for breakdowns. And you have to live close enough to a dealer that can fix them. Even a simple oil change is over $500. But this particular model is in my opinion the most beautiful car ever made next to the Jaguar XKE from back in the 60's.
Aston Martin used to advertise their cars parked next to a private LearJet in a hanger, to give you some idea that only the super uber wealthy would buy one. This car new would be parked in a garage next to a Rolls. I don't know that kind of wealth. I'm sure the buyer of this used Aston might be able to afford it. Brand new this car was about $225,000. I think I saw the price of this one at about $79,000. Which is still too much considering the expense of owning it.
If the engine needs replacing, one would be better off junking it and simply buying another one like it. Because these cars don't last much beyond about 50,000 to 75,000 miles. It's still just a toy even at that price. I decided to do something different this morning after watching a mechanic's video on YouTube. He had a 1999 Jag with a broken timing chain. The cost of repair is about the cost of buying another car just like it, around 10 grand. Exotic cars have deep depreciation because they cost so much to own.
Pipes are something else that depreciate in value. But my collection still cost me less than a very good set of tires for most any car. Today it is my Boswell with my Estate blend. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
