Just One
I had other posts ready for today, but I got to thinking about something. If I only had to have one more pipe and price was no object what would I want. I miss the old days when a pipe was a man's fashion accessory. A man's pipe said a lot about the man himself. Back in the day a man owned at least one tuxedo. A fashionably dressed man often smoked his pipe to label him a man of distinction. It's the white dot on the stem that says it's a Dunhill, like the tri-star on a car says it's a Mercedes.
I just miss those days when a fashionably well-dressed man often included his best pipe which was often a Dunhill pipe. That pipe said a lot about the man. Most men of distinction would have the above pipe in his collection as the pipe he wore, like a badge of honor. That pipe set him apart from all the others. It was the final touch needed for a man of distinction.
Maybe I'd just lounge around in my shorts and T-shirt and no one would see that pipe, but it is in what I'd feel while smoking that pipe. I'd still feel like a man of distinction smoking a Dunhill pipe. I could be nothing more than a bum, but still a bum with distinction. That pipe would set me apart as not just an ordinary bum, but still a man of distinction. It's not a cheap ten buck cob. I have one of those.
It would make an ordinary bum still a man of distinction. It would still signify that even a bum is a man of the world. But on the contrary, a well-dressed man of distinction has to have that one pipe that sets him apart, and this is that pipe. It makes an ordinary man a man of class and taste. Some men used to work and save just for that one special pipe. Every pipe smoker wants at least one Dunhill because owning one was the reward for hard work.
At least for me, this is that one pipe, if price were no object and I can only have one more pipe, this would be my pipe. The price on Smoking Pipes is $663 and that is with my 15% discount. Some might think, like I do, that is a lot of money just for a pipe. This is a pipe called the Dress pipe for good reason. It's not an every day pipe. It's a special occasion pipe as one one wouldn't drink Champagne every day.
Yeah, I had other thoughts for today, but I decided to write and post this one instead. It's not work to write about pipes. I could do this every day and still love the subject. There will be other days for other things, but today it is this pipe. My reality today is my Peterson System Pipe with my Epiphany this morning. My wife doesn't like it, but like a fine Ebglish pipe, I'll smoke a fine English when I'm by myself. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
