About Lonliness
Loneliness is a killer. I mentioned to my wife this morning that Matt Lauer was spotted in the Hamptons doing some shopping. He hadn't been seen in public for six years. Some people are forced into loneliness as he was and some people choose loneliness or for them it is more about wanting to be left alone. I am somewhere in the middle, but I know if my wife needs to go somewhere, I need to take her. Otherwise, I tend to prefer to be left alone.
I am sort of semi-reclusive having chosen to avoid social media and not have a lot of social contact. But that is MY choice. Otherwise, for many loneliness kills. It contributes to heart disease and a shortened life-span. But it is said the loneliest group of people are those in their teens to those in the 30's. Why are they lonely? Social media has a tendency to make people isolated.
With many people working from home these days, social contacts they might have have in office make them more isolated. And too, this means they can live anywhere they wish, so they are more mobie and can live virtually anywhere. So, they leave their communities and move to places where they are often lonely because they left their support system.
I might add that introverts tend to be more lonely than extroverts, because they often don't make new friends easily. I could suggest here that I am an introvert by choice. And I spend a lot of time by myself. But my time to myself adds greatly to my Spiritually. But many lonely people don't have this to fall back on. They feel isolated, which presents another to their sense of worth and that danger is sometimes suicide.
Lonely people often have mental health issues related to despair. I was going to post about my tobacco order today, but I came across this article about loneliness and isolation being a mental health issue. It seems the elderly often fall into the loneliness category as well, particularly is a spouse has recently passed away.
I don't know know what I can do to alleviate loneliness in others, but my task as I see it is to take care of my own little world. I start there. And this includes myself. I could say that anyone can experience loneliness. And maybe the best ministers of lonely people are the extroverts of the world. It doesn't take much to feel lonely in this world. And it seems this is more of an American problem than it is a world-wide problem. Everyone needs support, even those like Matt Lauer.
I'm smoking my Sherlock Holmes pipe today with my Super Value blend. I have plenty of tobacco until my shipment arrives and there is a lot of football on today. I'll enjoy my day and hope you do too. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
