Christmas Eve Eve
It is already past midnight Christmas Eve in some parts of the world as I post this morning. Santa has already begun. He gets an extra 10 hours due to the various time changes. But it is said that if the children aren't in bed by 9:00PM, he will return and has all presents delivered by midnight. So, the time zones allow for some extra time, but as I said the other day, Santa controls time anyway.
Today is kind of a day to prepare for Christmas. My mom used to say the day before Christmas Eve is Christmas Eve Eve. It's the one day before all the festivities begin. Santa will have begun by evening on this day. It is our day to make sure all the food is ready and many people will be up late into the night making sure the preparations have been made
As far as I am concerned today, I'll make sure all my gifts are wrapped and that at least I am ready for Christmas. I'll help my wife with final preparations and I'll make sure everyone is ready for Christmas Eve. I don't know if I recall too many Christmas Eve Eve's but I never did like Christmas Day on Sunday's. We always had to go to Church services on Sunday nights, but a Monday Christmas Day was always special, because Christmas Eve on a Sunday night was a special service.
Since we had to go to church on Sunday night's the Sunday night Christmas Eve was such a special night particularly if it snowed, but I don't recall if it ever snowed on a Sunday Christmas Eve or not. But even a Sunday Christmas Eve Eve was special. I think a Tuesday Christmas one year is the first time I heard my mom call it a Christmas Eve Eve.
Regardless, it seems like a Christmas on a Monday or Tuesday was the best. It meant the Sunday before Christmas was indeed a very special day. Otherwise we had to go to church on other days in the week. And if Christmas was on a Thurday or Friday, we had to have special services, which I did not like. But we never opened our presents until Christmas morning, but opening presents and then going to church was such a chore if Christmas was on a Sunday
So, today is Christmas Eve Eve according to my mom. And Santa will have begun before evening on this day. He will have his pipe in his mouth and he'll begin in the South Pacific and work his way westward until he gets to the Internatiinal Dateline at the end. Then he'll head for home and think about his much needed vacation on that secluded beach wearing his red Speedo. I'm smoking my Peterson System pipe today as I wait for Santa to begin his long journey and I can track him on the NORAD ap. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
