My Smoking Buddy

This isn't really a Christmas post today, but it seems I have a smoking buddy.  My wife suggested I write about the above photo today.  Rascal is his name and it's taken a while, plus just a bit of people food for Rascal to feel comfortable with me.  He is the dog of a houseguest, but it seems Rascal has become comfortable with me.  We listen to Christmas music together as I smoke my pipe and it seems when I come out to the patio to smoke my pipe, he wants to come out with me and lounge around in his favorite chair.

He now let's me approach him and allows me to pet him at will.  He welcomes my touch, but it's taken a while for him to be this comfortable with me.  According to his owner, he thinks Rascal was abused by a previous owner, but even from the beginning he would approach me, but was shy about me petting him.  But no more.

Rascal has become my buddy as his owner is often away during the day.  But in the past few days now, it seems Rascal favors my attention and let's me pet him when I wish.  He's such a cute little dog.  He's part Chihuahua with a little terrier mix.  He doesn't bark at us if we leave and return, but on the contrary will greet us with a wagging tail.

There is nothing Christmas-y about today's post, except it seems he has welcomed the Season with a wagging tail.  He is so cute and is just content to be nearby as I smoke my pipe.  He seems to know when I come out to smoke my pipe, because he wants to be out with me.  We give him little scraps of people food, but not too much.  We don't want to mess up his diet.  It's just that he has been welcomed as part of the family and he seems to know this.  No one will harm him here and he knows this.

No, today's post isn't about Christmas, but about a cute little dog who is incredibly lovable.  He's my smoking buddy, who seems to know his place in the world.  He's easy to love and seems content to be here and knows we belong here too.  Today I am smoking my Nording Number 3 pipe with some Tropical Export; and although the above photo was taken yesterday, he's just as content today.  I could have taken the above photo munutes ago.  He's right here as he was yesterday.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.  Arf-arf!

Dave
