Just Waiting

I'm waiting for my next order of tobacco today.  Depending on what time it arrives, I'll smoke my new Dunhill pipe, which I know will be my second favorite pipe next to my Angel pipe.  My order was to have been here Saturday.  I have nine different tobacco blends arriving with one being Spiced Rum that will make for a nice cooler weather Aromatic. I'm not sure I have had Spiced Rum from Sutliff, but I was looking for a nice Aromatic to compliment my order of eight different English blends

As to how I choose tobaccos is basically hit or miss. Just as any tobacco blend I have had.  There is nothing I have smoked I have not liked.  I am not a fussy pipe smoker as some have a favorite and stick to it.  Some pipe smokers might begin with a blend and smoke nothing else.  But how did I choose the eight English tobaccos I ordered?  Mostly, I asked Google.  I wanted what I thought might be the very best English blend.  Google gave me a list.  Number one on one list was Artisan's Blend by Ashton.

Artisan's Blend comes in a 50g tin for $12.50.  That is rather pricey for just a 50g tin.  That is about 1.75 ounces converted from grams to ounces.  That equals about 15 bowls in my new Dunhill pipe.  But what of the other seven blends I ordered?  Good question.  I began with searching through Cornell and Diehl tobaccos.  Ashton is an English tobacco company which also makes fine cigars.  Cornell and Diehl is a highly respected American tobacco company, so this is where my search began after Ashton and Spiced Rum by Sutliff, which is also a fine American company.

So, what did Cornell and Diehl have to offer?    I found one English called Bailey's Front Porch, for those warm summer evenings.  While Ashton's is for the experienced pipe smoker, with Latakia, Turkish, and Orientals added to a base Virginia, Bailey's Front Porch is more Burley with Latakia with a Virginia base.  It adds a bit of Cavendish for just a tad bit of sweetness, but is not an Aromatic.  I might be more excited about this tobacco although it's not a top seller as is Artisan's Blend.

I could wait to review these tobaccos and maybe I will, but first I just wanted to discuss how I chose my nine tobacco blends.  When all was said and done I was 75 cents shy of $95 in order to get free shipping.  So, I looked at my wish list and knew I had to order one ounce of something.  I chose one ounce of Virginia Number One by Mac Baren, which is an Irish company.  I read that Spiced Rum makes for an Excellent blending tobacco and thought I might blend one ounce of Spiced Rum to the Virginia Number One.

The others I ordered were Captain Bob's described as a Virginia based English Aromatic, London Squire, which is an old fashioned English blend, Morley's best, which is also English, and Yorktown, another English blend.  All these are made by Cornell and Deihl, none of which I have tried.  So that is my tobacco order that will arrive later today.  Meanwhile, my wife discovered an unopened can of Captain Black Original that I must have left behind here last spring.    So for right now,  it is that in my KS7 Churchwarden pipe.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
