Something is Amiss
There is a subject I don't want to mention, but it is happening all too often to influencers on social media. It's not just happening to teens, but influencers who have been around and are older. They're taking their own lives. I won't use the word for it, but it definitely has me concerned. While it might not be a daily occurrence, it just seems to happen far too often. But the question is, why. I read that since the pandemic mental health professionals have become concerned about the increase in neuroses in society. And it seems it's not teens that are at risk, but most notably those from their mid 20's to mid 30's.
Most professionals seem to attribute it to isolation. While socialization takes place on the Internet isolation gives too much time to oneself, which is not good. The addictive nature of social media has led to this phenomena, which has not been a problem until recently with some social researchers saying that there is an increase in neuroses in this age group which has made them mote vulnerable.
The question is whether there is prevention for this. Some professionals see things getting worse and not better. So, what is the answer? Is there one? Personally, I'm thinking it will get worse before it gets better, partly because of the addictive nature of social media. I'm not sure myself there is an answer. It just might get worse until there is a disconnection from social media and I'm not sure that will happen.
I tend to think as I do about many things in this age and that is until there is Divine Intervention, it seems many things will get worse before things get better. I see it all as a mass movement in the wrong direction for many things. What is required is for most to think more and respond less. It requires listening and paying attention to warning signs. But this is done less and not more.
I'm not saying all is lost or that everyone is affected. It's just that the increase is just a part of the age in which we are living. There is more anger these days and just more people saying what they feel. We simply need to protect ourselves from the toxicity that is out there. There are no filters except ourselves. We become the filters.
It just has me concerned, because it all happens in real time. Every event in the world is recorded in real time and it seems none of us take time to digest the information that comes at us from all angles. We need to protect ourselves, but that is easier said than done, which is why I am saying this is all indicative of the times in which we are living. We all need time to disconnect and take time to just think and recharge our batteries, so to speak, but it is a constant danger in this day and age. It just seems thiis is a sign of the times in which we are living.
This is partly why I chose to disconnect, because I know of the risks if I didn't. I'm not made perfect. I know this about myself. Just having someone to talk to helps a lot. We just need to listen. There just isn't enough of it. That's the problem in today's world. I relax smoking a pipe and spending time disconnected. Today it is my Peterson Churchwarden pipe with some Spiced Rum. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
