What God Says

This is not a post about God, per se.  It's about people who say that God told them this or that.  A pastor was recently arrested for bilking $1M from supporters in order to remodel his home.  He says this is what God told him to do.  I guess he didn't say what he was going to do with that million dollars.  My wife knows how I feel about many spiritual leaders who make money from donations to buy stuff mostly for themselves.

I hate to mention names, but one TV preacher helped another TV preacher raise enough money in order for him to buy his own private jet airplane.  This famous TV preacher says he hates flying with the public and feels he shouldn't as he feels about others not flying public if they don't have to.

One TV preacher has a $14M home he says God told him to have.  I'm just amazed at what people say God tells them to do including robbing banks to receiving donations for things they want to buy.  Is God really in the business of buying things for others?  I tend to think not, just as I don't think God gives one flying "you know what" about who wins sporting events.  In fact, the things most care about don't really matter to God.

How can I say this?   Well, I guess you could say that just maybe I know God a bit better than they do.  God just isn't into those things as God just isn't into materialism.  He just isn't.  God asks one thing of us and one thing only:  Just simply that we live and let live.  That is ALL there is to it.  God blesses the poor with life just as much as He blesses the wealthy.  He blesses with life and living and that is all there is to it.  The rest we impose on God by our own wishes and desires.

Too often we think of blessings as material wealth, but wealth or the lack of it is not dependent on God, but simply our own wishes and desires and using God to justify those wishes and desires.  One of the reasons why there are those who don't believe in God is for this very reason.  God seems to justify most anything people want or do.  The ONLY thing God justifies is simply the desire to live.  That is all there is to it.  And it's the same for everybody whether rich or poor or homeless or not.

I don't really care how one believes or even doesn't believe.  But I can tell you that when it comes to materialism, God asks only one thing from us and that is to be able to live with ourselves.  That's it.  Nothing more and nothing less.  A belief in God adds a dimension to a life, but the rules are the same for everyone.  I say things as the Spiritual person I am.  It just doesn't get more simple than this.

I'm smoking my Tim West pipe today with some Captain Black Original.  It's the one tobacco my wife and I both like the best.  I like it as an Aromatic and she likes the aroma of it the best.  So this is what I'm smoking today; not because I say it's what God told me to do

As a side-note I'm posting later today and I might find an afternoon time that is better for most everyone.  I'll experiment to see what's best for a time to post.  I might keep the morning posts.  That time just might be the best time.  And I might change them up once in a while.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
