It's THAT Sunday

Because of THE game today, I've worked harder on this post than nost any post I have written.  I made several attempts yesterday to write for today and I deleted them all.  I thought about keeping the theme of love for Valentine's Day this week, but while it seems everyone loves a great romance story, romance is short-lived for a long-term relationship.  But some people love romance and when it's gone they simply move on to the next romance in their lives.  Love is for the long haul in a relationship, but it's not romance.  Some might say romance is only for the young or the young at heart.

I wrote about the game today and deleted that.  Then I wrote about my pipe order I placed yesterday and deleted that.  I wrote about my smoking a pipe and deleted that.   I wrote about THE game and deleted that.   There have been a few posts I've posted and later wished no one read them.  I deleted Thurdmsday's post, as I have a few posts after posting them, because I was hesitant about writung it and even more hesitant about posting it.  I simply didn't want to write something today that I wished later I hadn't posted it.  But there reached a point that after four attempts, I just knew I would get this one right.

The theme today is about romance and how this relates to the Super Bowl.  I wanted to avoid mentioning Taylor Swift and a star receiver for the Chiefs, but maybe I'll comment on their romance and tie it all together.  She has gone from one romance to the next.  Then she writes songs about her breakups.  But the Swifties seem to believe this romance is for good.  I'm just wondering, and THAT is my point.  Love really is about the long haul and romance is just the beginning and is not for the long haul.  I just wonder whether now she's ready for the long haul.

I can't answer this for her.  Only she knows.  If she loves only romance she's writing her own very romantic novel with a star football player.  I am reminded of a conversation between a girl's father played by Jimmy Stuart and a young suitor who wants to marry his daughter in the movie Shenandoah.  He asks her why he wants to marry her.  He says he loves her.  Then Jimmy Stuart's character asks if he likes her.  That short conversation says it all.

I just wonder how much they LIKE each other.  Vegas is taking bets on whether he pops the question to her after the game.  I might take bets on how long their love lasts.  And THAT right there is all the difference in the world.  I won't mention anything other than this about the game this morning.  Swifties the world over will be waiting with a collective abative breath to see.  What odds would I give them?  I just don't know.  Romance is the shortest period of every relationship.  I just wonder how much they'll like each other.

I won't make any other comments about the Super Bowl this morning.  Liking the other person is the key to any long-term relationship.  And that is all I need to say.  I'm smoking my Nording Number 3 with some Bailey's Front Porch today and I've smoked a pipe longer than I've been married.  Everyone loves a good romance story.  Romance is but a very short chapter in the book of love.  I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
