Super Costs

I was going to publish this yesterday, but I had to get rid of yesterday's post from my que.  My wife and I were discussing the Super Bowl while out shopping yesterday afternoon.  Then I remembered an article I read about the costs of all the expenses for the Super Bowl, just in case any of you thought about going, which I'm betting is none, although a record some 37.5 million people are betting on the game itself.

I'm not sure where to begin, but let's say you go for two nights and decide to fly there.  If flying from San Francisco, your fare starts at $338, which isn't too bad.  If you drive there it is about an eight hour trip by car.  If you decide to fly from Kansas City, that fare starts at $666.  I believe these might be round trip tickets, but of that I'm not sure.  If you drive from KC to Vegas allow about 19 hours.  Okay, that's just to get there.

If you drive to Vegas, don't forget about parking fees that can be anywhere from $25-50/day.  Now you'll need a hotel for maybe two nights and possibly three.  Rooms start at $400 plus resort fees.  If you want the best hotel rooms, you can go to the Bellagio for $1600/night or stay at the Four Seasons for $1800 per night.  For $3500 at the Four Seasons you can get a room overlooking the enclosed stadium.

Don't forget about expenditures and maybe a little gambling.  But so far you're there and now you'll need tickets.  I have yet to get to the best part.  The game.  The cheapest tickets available are $6988 on ticket hub.  But the average cost is around $14,000 per ticket.  There is a six-ticket package available for about $88,000, while the best seats in the house go for around $75,000 each.

Now, I did most of this from memory with all the expenses listed in an article I read.  And I think the information is fairly accurate with prices fluctuating daily.  This article was posted Thursday night and I worked hard to memorize all the data.  I don't believe these figures are too far from reality.

The fact is, it seems to me that unless you are a die-hard fan, you're better off watching on TV.  Then the commercials become your entertainment.  They just might be better than the game itself.   Unless you're wondering whether Kelce and Taylor get engaged after the game, which I'm not.  Today it is my Peterson System pipe with some Spiced Rum tobacco and I thank you for your time.  Peace to each one of you.
