Always Just Enough
Continuing where I left off yesterday, we sold our car. I wasn't sure how much I wanted to say about it here, but it wasn't an easy decision. We've never been without a car often having two. But without going into details, we decided it would save us a lot of money. We believe we can live without it. We'd have to ship it to NY and back and that is a big savings right there. We no longer have monthly payments with monthly insurance costs. Plus the maintenance and gas.
Apart from this my wife might think I smoke my pipe too much, but I don't sit here by the pool and just smoke my pipe. I'm doing other things including helping her when she needs my help. I'll still go places with her thinking she just needs me to be there. Sometimes I'm thinking I'd like to hang out at a cigar bar once in a while, but then it's good I'm around the house. I have no desire whatsoever to hang out in public places.
So, getting back to the car, I very seldom went anywhere by myself and I don't see that changing. In fact other than getting around I'll be around her with the rare exception. We just don't see auto ownership as a necessity. But if it should ever come to that, we'll find something. We had our car for four years and averaged about 3,000 miless a year. We just reached the point where we decided we can live without it.
I've learned ownership of anything can be stressful. If we need a place to live we'll rent. I've found life less stressful without ownership. We help around here at our son's house. Thus is his investment. We've learned over the years. I'm always in search of balance in life. Always enough, but not too much. I've learned this with people too. Sometimes too many people are too much. I am always in search of balance in life. This includes everything. Even meditating is always just enough.
I smoke my pipes enough, but not too much. Tobacco isn't cheap, but I've found I always have enough, but not too much. I place an order about once a month. I enjoy good English blends, but I don't smoke Engkish tobacco all that much. And maybe I enjoy my pipes too much, but I've learned how to enjoy my pipes. I've learned how to enjoy people too. In fact, smoking my pipes have taught me a lot about life and living. Always just enough but not too much. I don't always have to tell the people in my life how much I appreciate them. Always enough, but not too much.
I've begun my list for my next tobacco order. I have some English tobacco on my list, but not a lot of it. I still enjoy sampling tobacco, but even with sampling I have to decide how much is too much. It's like that with anything we enjoy. I've enjoyed watching basketball this past week, but I just can't sit around and watch basketball. So, I choose my games carefully. Today I chose my Nording Number 3 pipe with some Morley's Best Blend English tobacco with a cup of hot black Guatamalan coffee I have more I could say here this morning, but I think I've said enough. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
