How Do You Choose Just One?

Everything in life is about choices.  Out of some 9 million cars made in the US each year, which does not include a world wide production of about some 80 million and we need a car, we choose one, or maybe two.  Those made doesn't include used cars on the market at any given time.  How can we possibly choose?  We do.

My brother was an overseas missionary, who when he came back to the States, couldn't believe all the choices available for most things here in the States.  We have many choices we make every day.  Smoking Pipes has several thousand pipes I can choose from whenever I buy a pipe.  But how did I choose them to buy from when I can buy from so many places?

I simply narrowed my choice.  Over the years I have ordered from them over some 30 times, including a number of pipes.  I first heard of them by watchung a few pipe smoking vids.  They seemed to be mentioned most often.  I checked out their website placed an order and they have been my go-to place ever since.  One night recently I was scrolling through pipes and my wife saw a pipe she liked, but had no idea what it was.  I had looked at so many pipes and had to figure out which one of many thousands she saw.

I had to do some thinking.  First of all, I knew one of the companies I was looking at was Peterson pipes.  They had a special offer for a free tin of tobacco with every new Peterson pipe.  So, at least I knew the company.  Then I had her describe the pipe.  That narrowed it down a lot.  And I knew the price range of pipes I was looking at.  It was more luck than research that I thought I found the pipe she described.  Then I was certain after about an hour of searching, I thought I found the pipe.

There were several like it. But when I showed her that particular one, she thought that was the one.  Out of thousands I found just that one.  It had to be the pipe.  So I placed it in my wish list along with a few others which were similar and she compared them and finally said that had to be one.  The price was right.  At least I knew the price range.  But, I too, liked that pipe the best.  So, I ordered it.  And THAT is how I chose that particular pipe.

I'm not sure how two people find each other to marry when there are so many to choose from.  I hate to say this, but when it comes to love men are clueless.  More often than not women do the choosing.  They make men think men do the choosing.  Men just do what women want them to do.  And they make us believe we chose rightly.  Men choose many things in life.

I chose a path of Spirituality.  It didn't make me rich, but I'm thinking it's priceless.  Mark Twain says people like me have no value.  I beg to differ.  I chose my path in this life, but I have been chosen much like I chose that pipe.  Being chosen is the greatest honor of all.  I chose my Dunhill pipe with some Captain Black Original this morning.  We simply need confidence in our choices.  Almost always our choices are best. Yes, some people choose wrongly and become worthless.   I've made my share of wrong choices and while I'm not totally priceless, my Spiritually is.  Martin Luther once said that he had held many things in his hands and lost them all; but that which he had placed in God's hands, that he still possessed. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
