I'm Thinking About This

I'm thinking the above pipe is my next pipe.  I put it in my wish list on my Smoking Pipes list.  It is a Peterson Irish Harp pipe which sells for about $125 and has a retail value of $170.  I just don't want to spend more than this for a new pipe these days.  And while I don't need new pipes, I'm always looking at pipes.  The band is made of silver.  Silver craftsmen at Peterson study years to become master silversmith's.  The pipe is a Canadian style and is more of a dress pipe for formal ocassions.  But I like this pipe and so does my wife.  I have some Irish Blessing Aromatic pipe tobacco in my wish list as well in celebration of St. Patrick's in a couple of weeks.  Irish Blessing is a honey and spice blend tobacco that should have a very nice room note my wife might like, besides her being Irish.

Maybe I'd only smoke this pipe on my son's patio or our deck in NY, but I have only one pipe similar, which is a Savinelli.  I love to come out to the patio in the early morning and smoke my pipe while listening to the birds.  This pipe, I believe, would enhance my early morning pipe smoking pleasure.  I can see myself smoking this pipe while drinking a cup of hot black coffee, listening to the sounds of early morning nature, as I am doing while writing this morning.

I love to listen to the various song birds sing as I drink my coffee and sip on an early morning pipe.  I'm usually up before everyone else in the household, and after making a pot of coffee I just sit here smoking my pipe and listening to the birds.  Once in a while a burrowing owl will hoot in the distance.  I love the sound of nature in the early morning hours.  There is a very peaceful serenity to begin my day.

I want to make recordings of the various song birds and have yet to figure out a way to do this so I could identify the various birds.  But just listening is fine with me.  There are at least a dozen or so various song birds that sing their morning songs.  They sing so beautifully.  In the early morning there isn't much traffic to disturb them and the peace and quiet often reminds me of summer mornings in the countryside of NY.  It really is the best time of the day.

I don't dress formally these days, but I'm thinking the above pipe would add a compliment to my Dunhill in my collection.  And it won't break the bank.  I have no need for more expensive pipes as I now have my Dunhill, but such a pipe as this would add so much to my already enjoyable mornings.  Even as the mornings progress, the song birds are active all day long.  It's just that they're more noticeable in the early mornings before the traffic and various man-made noises.

I've found relaxing with a pipe to be so enjoyable in recent years as I have more time to devote to pipe smoking.  And I love listening to nature.  Pipe smoking teaches one to listen, although my wife says I don't do that very well.  I can't seem to be much of a multi-tasker.  I'm often writung while listening to the birds though.

I can smoke my pipe, write, and listen to the birds, but that is about the extent of my multi-tasking abilities.  When my wife is talking, I have to put the phone down or I'm not listening.  She knows this.  But I'm always listening to the birds.  Their background music is simply beautiful.  Today I decided to smoke  my Viking pipe, which I don't smoke all that often, with some Apricots and Cream pipe tobacco.  I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.  I hope your morning is as enjoyable as mine.
