Love Vs. Hate
I made so many comments about love for Valentine's Day that I wasn't sure I wanted to tackle the subject again, but I read a news article about some stewardesses on an American Airlines flight that simply made me smile. As passengers were getting off a plane the stewardesses on the flight said not only thank you, but they said, "We love you," to each and every passenger. Most of the comments on Reddit were positive with very few negative comments.
I read the story where a few comments were posted. I thought to myself that was something I could write about. It WAS something different. And it got me thinking about how much better love feels than hatered. Jesus has a lot to say about love. Love simply does no harm. Love conquers all. Sure, I have a lot of hippie in me left over from the turbulent 60's, but I've had to learn it too. Love IS always better than hatred.
Everyone in an airplane is happy to have landed safely. There seems to be a collective sigh of relief in an airplane when it lands. I'll knock on wood, but in all my travels I've never encountered any kind of incident on a plane. And further I've never encountered a stewadard or stewardess that seems to have hafmd a bad day. But then I've never encountered a crew that said, "We love you," either.
I said this is about love vs. Hate, but I won't say much about hatred. It's just that hatred is emotionally draining and love is the opposite. Love however it is expressed feels good. I could say I know more about love than I do hate. I know there are foods I hate, but I don't feel all that emotional about food. I know a good steak from a bad steak. And while I'm not crazy about onions, I'll eat my peas, but I know my wife hates peas. But they don't seem to care.
Love just feels good. Love is full of endorphins. In fact love has healing powers. And I could go so far to say that while hate destroys, love builds. Love has a lot of positive attributes, whereas hate has none. Why some people hate is beyond me, really. But I can see how love makes a person feel. Just tell your wife you hate her cooking and see how she reacts.
So, while this is not an exhaustive treatise on love and hate, I know how good love feels and really, I know hate is not a positive emotion. It used to be said that if you see someone without a smile give them one of yours. I'm sure those stewardesses brought a lot of smiles to some very tired faces. My pipes wouldn't know which are my favorites, but maybe my wife would know that my pipes from her and family are my favorites. But I have none I hate. That says a lot right there. Today it is my Savinelli Favola pipe with some Captain Black Cherry. Thank you for your time and Prace and love to each one of you.
