Christmas Traditions

First of all, I like Christmas.  I am not about to be a Grinch when it comes to Christmas.  December 25 is a very special time of year.  I have no problems saying, "Merry Christmas."  I love the Peace and love the season brings.  Everyone loves love, or maybe most do.  Some maybe too much.  Christmas is romantic.  In fact, there is nothing inherently evil about Christmas.  I love Santa.  In fact I STILL want to believe in Santa.

I can take or leave the Easter Bunny.  We liked Easter at our house with colored eggs and Easter decorations.  But as a Holy Day, it can't compete with Christmas.  At least not in MY thinking.  And Easter is not the same day like Christmas.  Easter is just different.  It is a more Holy Day than Christmas.  I get it.  I get both days, really.  Easter IS religious, whereas Christmas is for everyone.  It can be whatever one wishes it to be.  Apart from the Easter Bunny there isn't much pagan about Easter.  Christmas can be pagan or religious.

It's just that Christmas is everywhere at that time of year.  It's not quite the dead of winter, but it's getting there.  Christmas abounds that time of year.  The kids don't ask when Christmas is every year.  It's the same day with the same traditions.  It now begins the day after Halloween, but it used to be Thanksgiving with the Macy's Thanksgiving parade with Santa Claus at the end and you just know, it's Christmas time.

I'm not concerned about changing either Christmas or Easter, but for years my family knew, but no one else did.  Now a few more at least know, but I leave belief to my Spirit Guides.  But I'm not about to change December 25 knowing I can't.  But for 30 years, Christmas has been more pagan for me than religious.  I don't mind giving Christmas to the pagans.  I love the religious about it, but apart from what I've said about it, the date of Jesus' birth is speculative.  His death is not.  At least we have an idea.

My point is that I love December 25 and only the Grinches of this world do not.  I believe I can't have too many Christmases.  We'd love Christmas every day, but that is what makes December 25 so special.  It's only once a year.  Someone once said June 25 is their second favorite day of the year.  It's half way to Christmas, I was told when I inquired why.  And really people begin to think Christmas when school starts or the first football game of the new season.

So, I'm not about to change Christmas, nor would I want to.  I would love to have the Peace and Love of Christmas every single day, but that is what makes Christmas so special.  But then so is April 12.  I can't have too many Christmases and I'm thinking no one can.  Today it is my family's Dunhill pipe with my Elizathan English tobacco and maybe I can wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.
