Morning Sunrise
Sometimes I'll rise in the morning before day break. I placed an order for tobacco last week. Usually I enjoy writing about my tobacco choices. I didn't even mention this order until now. My first bowl of tobacco in the morning is usually an English blend of something I have to go with my first cup of hot black coffee. The last few mornings I have smoked a blend by Sutliff called Match Sunrise. It is supposed to be similar to Peterson's Early Morning Pipe, which is a very light English blend.
Sunrise isn't an exact match, but it's close. It's mostly an aged Virginia, with Latakia, and some Orientals. Now I'm sure these tobaccos won't mean much to you. But as a Virginia ages it naturally becomes more naturally smooth and sweet. Latakia is for spicing and the Orientals add flavoring. The Latakia is so light, it's hardly noticeable. One reviewer said it's the best English he's ever had. I wouldn't go THAT far, but I think I like it better than Early Morning Pipe.
It is definitely a very light English tobacco. The Latakia is just barely there. And the Orientals add just the right balance to the aged Virginia's. As an English tobacco I might give it close to five stars as it IS simply THAT good. I just might want to keep some of this as my morning tobacco. Every English blend is different.
I simply enjoy a good English blend. I still like the Professor tobacco I had not too long ago. And white Artisan's Blend by Ashton was a very heavy English blend, I enjoyed it. I'm finding my favorites. But I do this mostly by trial and error. I did order two tins this time of tobacco I haven't tried before. I hate to buy tins because they ate more expensive than bulk tobacco.
There aren't really seasons here in Florida, but I can see sunrise Match being my Spring and Summer morning English tobacco. Come late summer and fall in NY, I can see Haunted Bookshop being a good choice for cooler mornings.
I checked a list to find a good Spring tobacco and I found Smooth Sailing by Ashton. I ordered a tin that I might open later today. That is an Aromatic described as having notes of Maple, coconut, and dark chocolate. It is more expensive, but Ashton is a company known for quality tobaccos. I'll review that tobacco at a later time. So, this morning it is my Sherlock Holmes pipe with Sutliff's Match Sunrise English tobacco and a cup of hot black coffee. Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
