Old School

Old School pipes are hard to come by.  The above pipe would be from the 1940's.  Brulor pipes is an old pipe company that went out of business, but was resurrected in the 2010's.  The above pipe is made of old Briar with a real horn stem.  The cost might surprise you for it sells for $65.  Collectors of old school pioes will begin to snatch up these pipes as they sell for between $45 and $65.  This is identical to the old school pipe grandfatthers smoked back in the day.

In that period the horn stem set it apart from other pipes and it would have been a fashion statement for a man whose pipes were anything but ordinary.  It would have been on parr with a Dr. Graybow.  But at $65, I believe this pipe would be a steal.  Obviously it is machine made, but that would not diminish its quality or its value.

I enjoy watching old movies and TV shows where pipes are smoked.  I don't watch the old Match Game for most any reason but to see what pipe Charles Nelson Riley is smoking on any given episode.  A pipe made a man a gentleman.  This is what the above pipe symbolizes.  It represents a gentleman from days gone by.

This is what the French Brulor pipe company does in bringing back a line of old fashioned pipes.  It is a reminder of days past.  Even though they're inexpensive they possess the classic style of the 1940'.  I showed this pipe to my wife last night and asked if she liked it.  I'm not a collector of old style pipes, but there are those who are.  I'm thinking at $65 this pipe won't last long.  It's the horn stem that sets this pipe apart.

No it's not Ivory from an elephant or from a Rhino, but is from a steer.  I think the horn stem sets it apart from all other pipes.  Obviously I like this pipe.  And I thought I'd share it with you this morning.  Today I am smoking my Gettysburg "haunted" pipe with some Captain Black Original while drinking a cup of hot Guatamalan black coffee.  Thank you for your time and Peace and Love to each one of you.
