A Fine Smaller Bowl Pipe

I work hard at trying not to be sexist about pipe smoking.  But I have to admit that I simply have not known a woman to smoke a pipe.  I know they're out there because I have purposely looked up women smoking pipes on YouTube.  I know there are women who smoke cigars and they have YouTube videos as well.  I'm not saying the above Peterson pipe is just for women, but it has a smaller bowl and might fit a woman's hand quite nicely.

But I'm not into choosing pipes for women specifically, and the other day in writing about the romance of pipes, I wrote about a man smoking a pipe, but I did say roles could be reversed.  My thinking was that I thought of the romance as a man smoking a pipe.  There is nothing wrong with this thinking.  The above pipe is a Heritage Nickle Calabash pipe by Peterson which sells for $98 on Smoking Pipes.

I like the Calabash style of pipe and instead of silver that is often used by Peterson, the band is nickle, but the same care goes into the band as silver.  This pipe can be used expressly for flake tobacco.  Some pipe smokers have dedicated pipes for Aromatic or English but not both.  This could be a dedicated pipe as the bowl is smaller, but that just depends.  Some pipe smokers have a bowl preference size.

It's not really long stemmed enough to be called a Churchwarden, but it will smoke cooler due to the longer stem.  This pipe doesn't have the classic look of a pipe that might be smoked in public.  One might say this an easy chair kind of design for a pipe.

I have a couole of Calabash pipes.  I have one I've had for over 30 years which is a gourd Calabsh with a Meerschaum insert.  I seldom smoke that one simply because it requires too much care when I do.  The other is my Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe which I smoke quite often.  The bowl of this pipe, as I previously stated, is somewhat smaller and the stem is much longer.  As to whether I would smoke this much just depends.

I included the pipe above in this blog because it could be more for a woman's hand but both men and women could smoke it.  Some men pipe smokers prefer a smaller bowl.  I have pipes that are both a large and a small bowl.  I have no preference.  I liked the appearance of the above pipe.  Today it is my Peterson Irish Harp pipe with my first bowl of the day being Crooner by Cornell and Diehl.  I've since swtched to Bayou Morning by the same company.  My coffee thie morning is a hot cup of black Guatamalan coffee.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
