A Little Night Romance

Maybe very little.  Okay, no one thinks of romance when it comes to pipes.  The brass on the stem might be a sliver of moonlight amidst swirling clouds in a night sky.  The above pipe is called Notte, meaning night in Italian.  I have to give credit to Smoking Pipes for my photos I use, and I read the descriptions and try not to plagiarize.  But I saw romance in the description and while not copying word for word, I have to admit I found the description kind of romantic.

The above pipe is a Rosi pipe The company is owned and operated by Savinelli.  The above pipe has a list price of $68, which rivals in price closely by the most expensive Dr. Grabow pipe.  So, obviously I would recommend this pipe over a Dr. Grabow any day.

But can a pipe be romantic?  Some or maybe most anyone today would say that nothing about tobacco is romantic.  The romance of a pipe is in the eye of the beholder.  My wife would say I'm a dreamer if I think she finds my pipes romantic.  Okay, I'll give her that.  Generally speaking, my tobacco smoke is offensive to her.  And there's nothing romantic about a bunch of guys and maybe a woman or two sitting around at the local pipe club smoking pipes.

But cut me some slack here, I found the description reminiscent of an old time movie.  Okay?  A couple walking at night under a sliver of moonlight, while the guy smokes his pipe, and they pause for her to light it for him.  Sounds more like a commercial than a movie.  Some, if not everyone, would suggest these days it would be more romantic if he didn't smoke a pipe.  And today no woman would bother lighting a pipe for a guy or vice versa.  If he wants it lit let him do it himself.  She'd probably prefer he not smoke it anyway.   And yes, the roles could be reversed.   Okay, take away the pipe and I have nothing to write about.  So there!

Just another example of a good pipe that's not very expensive.  I'll have my romance and you can have...  Well, whatever.  Nevermind a candlelit dinner.  Today's candles are battery operated and flameless.  I find nothing romantic about that except the lighting.  And I digress if I say it's probably too dark to read the menu.  I'd need my pipe lighter to do that and there's nothing romantic about a pipe lighter.  Okay, so you have your romance and I'll have mine, but overall not a bad pipe.  Today it is my Angel pipe with some Gambler pipe tobacco.  If there's any romance in this, my pipe for today is a gift from my wife.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one you.
