Disappearing Decaf
I drink two large cups of coffee a day, but sometimes I want some decaf coffee. I usually keep a bag of ground decaf coffee available. But decaf coffee might be disappearing. Methalene Chloride is why. It can cause eye damage, liver problems, and other health related issues. So, the FDA is talking about removing all decaf products off US shelves.
First of all, this might affect consumers who don't drink any caffeine. So, when I read this I wondered how many people this would affect. I'm not supposed to drink caffeine, but then I'm not supposed to smoke a pipe either. Even alcohol could be risky to my health. But I've been alive for 13 years since my heart attack and I've experienced no chest pains.
I kind of look at it this way, my heart is protected by my Spirit Guides. In my thinking, nothing can damage my heart. But then I don't take unnecessary risks with my heart. I guess if you want to know the truth, I simply don't fear death or dying. But I'm not saying everyone should live as I do. There is a line from a movie that says, "Anything close to the heart is risky." My wife might remember where that line comes from. I tried looking it up but couldnt find it. Maybe I take risks with my heart I shouldn't take, but my thinking is all things in moderation.
I've known people who drank nothing but decaf coffee and might have as many as eight to ten cups a day. My mother-in-law just drank hot water in leiu of any coffee at all. Decaf coffee still has caffeine. And just a trace of Methalene Glycol can be harmful according to the FDA. But it might be best to avoid any caffeine at all. But most of us need that one cup of coffee in the morning.
I'm drinking a cup of hot black Ethiopian Guji coffee this morning, which I like very much. I've had coffees from the world over and I've found I like Guatamalan coffee the best. At least to me it's smoother. I do like a cup of decaf now and then in the hot afternoons when I'm meditating with my pipe. My pipe this morning is my Peterson Irish Harp pipe with some Bayou Morning pipe tobacco. I thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.
Dave
