Early Morning Quiet

The photo above is of a feral cat I took just this early morning.  It's a Saturday morning as I sit on the deck of our NY home.  I can hear no manmade noises.  Just a lot of birds, and occasionally, the chickens next door.  And their rooster is crowing announcing the arrival of morning, although he does crow most any time of day.  But it's mostly the birds I hear.  Just a very uneventful cloudy Saturday morning.

I am smoking my Boswell pipe this morning, as I await the possible arrival os light showers this morning.  I am almost down to the last of my Lane 1-q.  In a day or two, I'll have to open my can of Captain Black Original.  I have my next tobacco order ready to go.  But I have plenty until it arrives early the next week.  My pipe makes no noises.  I ask myself as to what is on my mind this morning that I can write about.

Actually, since arriving here in NY, my mind has been relatively quiet.  I really hate to think too far ahead as we begin to count down the days we'll be leaving at the end of next month.  I'm thinking about what I'd like to do once we get back to Florida.  My wife has made the flight arrangements to go back.  One of the couples living here will be going back to Australia in a few days.  That will leave us with the newlyweds who have the downstairs.

I'm not used to sharing a house with strangers.  And it's beginning to rain.  I'll stay unless it begins to do more than sprinkle.  After the others leave this morning it looks as though I'll be moving to the garage for the day.  I believe it will rain off and on for most of the day.  I don't mind the garage, but I like sitting at the table under the umbrella here, which offers shade when the sun is shining.

My coffee this morning is the dark roast American Rifle Coffee Company Headless Horseman Pumkin Spice coffee.  It's not a favorite, but should be since my son gave it to me for a Father's Day gift.  It has everything I generally don't like about a coffee.  But I'm making an exception here.  When I saw the bag, my initial reaction to it was that it was everything I don't like in a coffee.

My favorite coffee has now become a Guatamalan bean coffee I can only get at Sam's Club.  But this coffee is a pleasant change of pace.  Dark roast is supposed to have less caffeine.  The Pumpkin Spice flavoring is hardly noticeable.  So after brewing a few pots of it now, I have come to rather enjoy it.  Well, it looks like it has stopped sprinkling and I decided to come back out on the deck this morning.  We'll see how long I remain here.  This one is a little different this morning.

I wasn't sure what I'd say today.  I usually write a day or two ahead, but this one is fresh.  Just some rambling thoughts with no particular theme.  It's just a quiet Saturday morning and it seems my brain is just as quiet.  I like that.  And hope you do too.  Thank you for your time and Peace to each one of you.

Dave
